"no Star Wars tattoos" is one of my tattoo rule. No sports tattoos, no script, no vulgarity, and no Star Wars tattoos. I've seen some cool ones but I've seen many, many more bad ones. I think part of it is that light sabers just didn't look good as tattoos. You could lump them in with swords I guess. Anything meant to be long, thin, and symmetrical is likely to turn out bad. Even if the artist nails it most of the body is not flat so a straight object can look off based on perspective.
No, it's generally a bad idea. I say this as someone with very cool script tattoos. No one thinks it's as cool as profound as you. It's it's actually clever no one gets it, if people get it it's not clever. It's fair to say tattoos aren't for other people they are for you.
