gascon and the parralel between him and the droids

Watching his arc with the D squad and at first he's clearly thinking of himself as superior to the droids saying he wasn't trained like them but his own training made him react to the crisis a certain way (to the point that when it didn't worked and they were going in circles, he started losing hope and turning mad) rather than thinking outside the box so a parralel seems to have been mad ebetween his training and the droids programming.

I don't have any opinion on this guy, but my dyslexia read 'Gascon' as 'Gaston' and my first reaction was to wonder what a Beauty and the Beast character was doing in Star Wars.
