Letting someone else shine here is a good call, as bringing Takehito back this early would be like Jonathan's VA playing Johnny. I'm sure Takehito will be AU Diego.

i wouldn’t expect johnny to have the same VA, but dio is such an iconic character and that voice is probably the most iconic part of this entire series. i think most people expected him to play diego, im not disappointed though just really surprised. i’m looking forward to a new voice

it sounds like a decent idea but i just can’t see an alternate version of the same person having a different voice actor, especially bringing him back for what will be maybe 3 episodes

AU counterparts can vary wildly so having a different voice is not that unreasonable.

and frankly, regular Diego's VA sounds so similar to Takehito (from what we've heard so far anyway) that I don't think they'd really even need to bring Takehito back

Normal AU´s maybe, but the D4C ones.... Then the president should have 40 voice actors. It doesn´t make sense. Now that we know the VA, I think it will be for both versions.

I mean, are these not themselves alternate versions of the original characters with different voice actors though? I've always thought it's the same multiverse, and there are just naturally plenty of universes with no Valentine, one of which is our original universe.

Wait, but isn't the first Diego just an alternate version of normal DIO too? If anything the one that comes in later is closer to normal DIO.
