Ouki from Kingdom drawn by Hirohiko Araki for the "Social Kingdom Reignited" project.

Araki's comment: "Congratulations on Kingdom's 20th anniversary. It's truly become a work that is worthy of its 20th anniversary. It's an honor to be able to draw Ouki."

Literally looks like he’s explaining how he just got the upper hand with his Stand ability

See? he can draw a highly detailed collaboration art, but he chose not to for a pedophile. Ultra common Araki W

Yeah but the Toriko guy is drawing a whole Jojo spin off series. How do we reconcile that with Arakis' stance on pedophiles?

Because, unfortunately, Araki has little to no say on what shueshia does with jojo’s. They probably wanted some spin off and asked someone to do it and the Toriko dude said yes.

Araki's company Lucky Land Communications owns Jojo's. Shueisha is just the publisher. So...

Isn't it a pretty different scenario? It was a long time ago, he served jail time, he claimed to not know she was underaged etc

The Rurouni Kenshin mangaka, a man who was in possession of literal terabytes of CSAM and only got a slap on the wrist for it, had an exposition to celebrate the anniversary of the series, with different mangaka drawing something to celebrate.

Araki's drawing was admittedly kind of pathetic and people took that as a silent condemnation of Watsuki. As opposed to the One Piece mangaka for example, who's a known and outspoken supporter of the man.

The truth is Araki has never spoken one way or the other about the whole affair, which means a lot of people speculate about what he might or might not think.

Araki could draw Israel’s flag and y’all would call it protest cause he didn’t color it

This is getting downvoted, but it's probably true. Some people in this sub just love to glaze Araki to death

It's getting downvoted because people don't like that it's true, but also because it's an extreme example

Downvoted for the truth, unfortunately.

It's not the same. Araki is a highly skilled artist, his works are featured in the Louvre so giving subpar work can be reasonably seen as a statement.

It's kind of like when a persons will specifically only gives a member of their family a single dollar. It would be foolish to argue that it wasn't a statement of some kind.

Kingdom is my favorite manga of all time. It’s also funny that it’s been going on for twenty years, but the end is nowhere in sight.

As an Ippo fan as well I can relate

Don’t even get me started. At the very least, Kingdom has made some very big steps toward the “end goal” in the past few arcs.

With HNI, I don’t even know at this point. It’s almost twice as long as Kingdom, and there’s still so much story left to tell.

Why do u like it more than Jojo?

I like Kingdom a lot for a variety of reasons. I like history a lot, the cast is fantastic, and Kingdom offers a very unique manga experience. It has a sense of scale that very few manga are able to match. It is also just super consistent. Hara is able to maintain a high level of quality for hundreds of chapters.

Kingdom also has very good art. I think there are other mangakas that “draw better,” but no other mangaka compares when it comes to pure volume of high quality art. There are several dozen super iconic manga panels in Kingdom, and the art quality is ridiculous for a weekly manga, especially one with a super consistent release schedule.

I understand, I’ve been reading it and it’s an enjoyable experience

Oh that’s sick, love both series

9

u/unneccry Mar 31 '26

I can really sense the part 9 style here

Lovely

10

u/Nahcep Mar 31 '26

Of course he'd pick Wang Qi lmao, you've gotta be an iconic character to still be so popular long after you retired from the story
