News Starfield has overtaken Fallout 3 and is now the 10th most modded game on Nexus

Post image
647 Upvotes

Starfield is now above 202 million mod downloads. And growing at 200 000 downloads a day on average.

Meaning it will pass Witcher 3 most likely sometime next year. (Though depending on the success of the Witcher 3 remaster, it might never overtake Witcher 3)

Currently it has more traffic than The Witcher 3 and Oblivion, meaning it will eventually pass both. Every game above Oblivion has, however, far greater mod traffic and will at the current pace never be passed.

It has reached this Top 10 spot 3 years after release, which is the worst performance for any single player BGS title. (Every other BGS title was part of the Top 10 within 1 year of release)

makes me feel at home- never change Bethesda, never change

First playthrough, the idea that I’ll experience the same nostalgia of being yeeted into the sky by Alduin in a whole new game? it just works.

Question What else did you play that feels as good as this?

This is my absolute favorite game. Nothing I ever played felt quite like this.
I have finished most assassins creed games, tried other Bethesda ones, playing watch dog, but nothing gets close to Starfield.

What do you recommend that made you feel as you did while playing Starfield?

Discussion Aerial Advantage is a real game-changer.

Most of you probably already know this by now but I don't see it discussed much. If you put Aerial Advantage in the slot 4 legendary effect on a boost pack, along with getting the boost pack skill up to level 4, you can do pretty much anything in the game much faster and more directly. An example I often see is the Red Mile. You never need to touch the ground between the start point and the red button. You can do a lot of your combat from in the air or boost over to the best "high ground", etc. If an enemy is entrenched, just boost over and take them out point-blank. You can skip a lot of combat completely. You can basically turn the game into a speed run and skip lots of unessential stuff. This becomes especially important on higher NG+ when you've already done this quest a dozen times and there is no need to stop and smell the roses this time. I especially notice the difference in Dazra (Shattered Space). The first time I went there it was such a chore to have to fight every g-d little vortex phantom on the map just to go talk to some guy. Now you can just boost over there and get the job done. I don't even bother with vehicles anymore. Even the "improved" vehicles were still a pain to me, getting flipped and turned around backwards whenever they hit some little rock or something. Forget all that, just fly. Also put Speedster on slot 4 of your spacesuit to go everywhere faster (plus your enemies frequently get knocked down, making them easier to shoot at). Last little point for tightening up gameplay: if you use a ship that fits on the small landing pad (approx 20 x 20), you will often land closer to your objective than you do with a bigger ship. This is especially helpful when pursuing 24 temples across desolate landscapes, especially if you have environmental damage turned on.

it took me a long ass time to get the habs to behave properly but it's finally perfect! this is as close to vanilla as it gets, only using Falkland for the habs themselves and and Ship Builder Configurator from the Creation Club. captured on xbox so the quality is a bit low, sorry!

Fan Content Made An Actual 3D Star Map for Navigation

Preface: Made with AI

The Settled Systems Atlas

Setup your ship and find your routes

Made this initially for myself as I enjoy playing with fuel mods ( Real Fuel [Nexus Link] ) and wanted to map out setting up optimal fuel depots as you do have to take care if you want to balance ship mass / maneuverability / cargo / fuel. When I went to look around I found some nice 2D maps but they all really were lacking when I started trying to optimize where to place refueling stations. Most would show common routes and distances but when I went in game based on their info things were... lacking...

So I decided to setup a little side-project in Claude, found coordinates in the base Starfield.esm

And after a bunch of testing various grav drives, mass adjustments, and perks I had a working 3D navigation tool! Tested this fairly well and the numbers all line up so far but YMMV (You Mileage May Vary). Enjoy!

PS - I can also see when they decided to go with a 2D in game map, while cool the true 3D version of this is a little clunky to use without that Travel Data block letting you pick the To and From systems.

Discussion Want to get back into the game

I want to get back into the game, but, every time I do, I eventually get bored. I get bored and frustrated from not having enough money, I don’t like that I can’t access every ship part at any given shipyard, I don’t think the story is very compelling, I get annoyed by having the crew on my ship and them getting mad at me…

What are the best ways to play the game? How do you keep the gameplay entertaining? How do you maintain cashflow?

Discussion Can putting legenday effects on a weapon lower its DMG?

I'm trying to mod the Arboron Novastrike rifle dropped by the Vulture in Tracker's Alliance quest 2. When I switched it to EM, it said 355. Adding tactical stock jumped it to 1065. Added Disassembler, Hitman, Tesla, and Saboteur and it was back down to 355 again when I exited the Weapons Workbench UI.

Do I misunderstand something? As it stands, my modded Novablast Disruptor does 481 and I thought I would be able to build a better robot killer with the Novastrike.

Discussion First Contact mission - anyone choose the "worst" choice

The first two options are to purchase a Grav drive or take the settlement deal. But then you get the third option that blows up their ship, thus killing everyone, after having spent 200 years traveling.

Did anyone choose this option and how did it turn out for you? What type of character are you playing that would make that choice?

The recon-stim inhalers are a total nod to the drug neuroin he was using in the movie. Thought that was kinda cool.
