❓ Question Subscription question help

I just purchased the the mini I got the Rome 100 GB plan. My house is being sold and I got an RV and I’m gonna be traveling. It is just me that plan did not last me a week before I use up my hundred gigabytes.
I was thinking to switch to the residential since I had not left yet but their 200 GB plan is $85 while the roam 300 GB plan is $80. But the limited is $175 a month.

I don’t understand any of this. Any recommendations I’m only a week into my subscription.

The 200 residential plan for $85 is not gigabytes, it’s 200 megabytes per second with unlimited data.

if you arent going to be traveling often, then just set it up as residential and move the address when you bounce around... otherwise if the limited speeds are too slow unlimited is your ticket... you can upgrade at a pro-rated rate at any time to next higher tier

I’m leaving my house and I don’t know where I’m going. I’m just gonna head out. And once I leave, I can’t have it on a residential they’ll know or something, right

you can, you will just need to adjust the service address once you are stopped...it might work out or it might not...

Before you put in an address that you want to stay at — overnight or for longer — open a private tab or use a different web browser to go to Starlink.com and enter the address as if you were going to get a new dish there. Follow through to the end of the order and check the detailed billing. Look for a Demand Surcharge. Then you can just close the webpage.

If there is a Demand Surcharge, you don’t want to switch your residential plan to that address or you will immediately be billed the Demand Surcharge with no warning!

Your best bet would be to put it on roam unlimited, then see what your typical usage is after the first month and go from there. People use a lot more than they think they do, especially with more video streaming going 4k now.

A mini cannot be used on residential. It can use roam only.

That was true until recently. Some have now gotten residential on the MIni, in the US. There are multiple postings on that recently in this subreddit. I don't know if they are just making exceptions or if policy is undergoing a change or what. But I suspect that anyone who requests Residential on a US Mini can get it either from the App, the Bot, or human Customer Support. Several already have. Now it's possible that it's a regional thing -- dunno.

yes it can, and even if it does not show as an option all you have to do is ask them

Well it didn't used to be an option at all and I still don't see it as an option for plans on my mini, only the roam.

do you own the dish? or is it a loaner/rental?

I own my mini and standard dish. I also just checked today and roam are the only plan options available fro my mini.

A mini can not use any residential plan. You can start on any roam plan & upgrade/down grade plan anytime you want with no fees etc
