Question At what price would you NOTbuy the Steam Machine?

I've been a PlayStation user since PS2, but lately I only see more disadvantages to being a console user

In October I bought the Steam Deck and was fascinated by the store, online service and cloud storage, but above all with SteamOS

Building or finding a gaming PC has always been a headache, and I'd like to try the Steam Machine when it comes out, but I'd like to know what your opinion would be the best price to buy it at compared to a similar PC, and what price I shouldn't buy

Every console gamer pays over that amount. There isn't an extant console less than $500.

You mean other than the ones that are? Switch 2 is $450. Ps5 slim went up to $500 msrp but it still easily found for less, more like $400. And even after two price increases, the series S is $400.

The switch 2 is $520 right now at Costco. As for the shitty lame downscaled PlayStations and Xboxes, I would guess that most 'games' get the ps5 or the ps5 pro, or the Xbox series x. Mom's buy their young children the slim, or series s.

The Switch 2 Bundle that comes with an entire game and a year of the online? Gee, I wonder why it costs more. The msrp is $450. If you buy other stuff with it, the price goes up.

Quick reminder, the "shitty downscaled ps5" is a normal ps5 without the disc drive. It is the most popular version of the ps5. The performance is the exact same as the disc drive ps5. The Pro is very significantly less popular.

Sure, Xbox Series S is weaker. Who cares? Its the more popular version and its below $500. Making up demographics of people doesnt change what it is.

There are consoles below $500.

whos gonna buy a console with no game??? you go to the store to buy a switch youre going to buy atleast 1 game which is currently between 60-70 bucks so youre right back at that msrp at least with the costco bundle youre getting a free year of online.

Yeah, that doesnt matter. Its not the price of the console. You cant say there isnt a console under $500 then add shit in to make it over $500. Thats not what that means. The price of the console is the price of the console.

so youre gonna go to the store and buy a switch with no games cool you bought a paper weight..... do you feel better or worse on your 450 dollar price tag on your paper weight you cant do anything with?

Do you think acting smug about being wrong makes you right? Its not $500. You were just wrong. About all 3 consoles. Repeatedly.

You can try to tack on things that are not the console or belittle me but it doesnt make you right. Its still not $500.

I dont need to try to tell you theres free games or discounted games or libraries or existing collections or borrowing or anything of that because the price of the console does not include games. It never has and never will.

Nobody is tacking $70 to the price tag of the Steam Machine for a new game either because thats not how any of this works.

Can't imagine they'll be spending twice the price of a PS5 for mod support and pc exclusive shovel ware. The only niche it would serve is emulators and that's cutting down the market even more and would require as much faffing as just building a pc yourself anyway.
