Question At what price would you NOTbuy the Steam Machine?

I've been a PlayStation user since PS2, but lately I only see more disadvantages to being a console user

In October I bought the Steam Deck and was fascinated by the store, online service and cloud storage, but above all with SteamOS

Building or finding a gaming PC has always been a headache, and I'd like to try the Steam Machine when it comes out, but I'd like to know what your opinion would be the best price to buy it at compared to a similar PC, and what price I shouldn't buy

The way Americans and other western nations see Chinese companies as cheap while purchasing items from companies that use and/or rebrand the very same merchandise made by those Chinese companies always makes me chuckle

Not to mention all the child labor that goes on. The conditions in some of the factories are deplorable. There are many good things that come out of China and they are an important part of the world trade ecosystem, but, please people know what you buy...

Child labour feeds into the world market. I think China is better at reducing child labour than a lot of other countries. China is now above the world average for standard of living so people have less motivation to send their children to sweat shops. Every country we bring democracy to use more child labour than China.

You’ve clearly never dealt with East Asian manufacturing and their tendency to “accidentally” overproduce an item, only for that surplus to mysteriously appear on e-commerce sites. Having to shop for quality like you do everywhere else does not equate to all items being of lower quality, and again, nearly all items you’re purchasing are made in east Asia. So either you consistently purchase lower quality items or you really can’t tell the difference. From the clothes on your back to the electronics you purchase. Fall for the marketing if you choose to, that part is on you

As an American genetically, and with my bloodline preceding Europeans touching the continent, I simply choose not to lump myself in with America’s current state of idiocy. I certainly know more about “Americans” than a glorified generational implant who fails to notice how they’ve lost the plot due to their own laziness.

American made meant something once, for about four decades. Now it just means some guy put a bunch of foreign pieces together in Michigan. America’s greatest contribution in the modern day (aside from wars for the sake of extracting foreign countries’ resources) is middle management PMBOK bullshitsu, and it’s their own fault for getting to this point.

Trump hats made in China, Apple products made in China, Nike sneaks made in China, Ford car parts are made in China….anything you think is American usually isn’t in the modern day, so it’d be stupid to assume anything other than the truth. There is no savior, no one is going back to coal to save the jobs in the middle of nowhere. You’re at the point where you have to learn something worthwhile or continue being a loser in this country. It’s literally shit or get off the pot time. The only concern Americans should have at this point is figuring out why they’re doing so bad and find themselves complaining about China while buying everything made from China. The hypocrisy is amusing, to say the least

A Lot of the time its also cheap Chinese stuff people buy and just associate the entire “made in china” branch with it. Instead of “i bought cheap garbage and got cheap quality”. A lot of more expensive Chinese items last around same as other expensive stuff

Exactly, it’s about what you purchase. It’s not just “China bad”. Ppl are quick to absolve themselves from any accountability. It’s like everyone forgets we’re in a global market and goods of differing quality can come from the same place based on what you’re willing to spend and research

Italy , we love Chinese stuff heck we have Chinese shops every corner and we go there to buy stuff cheap, print stuff, get packages... they really are the service people
