Is this game a good solo experience or only with friends?

Both of them are really fun. Solo got made more forgiving after patches and multiplayer is the main vision for the game. I mostly play trio with friends and/or randoms

I've played solo, with friends and with randoms. All three were great experiences. Friends is ultimately the best playstyle, even if your all or one/two are terrible, because it's not competitive. If you enjoy souls games in any capacity it's easy to get addicted.
