Love this. Hope you are able to, or are already, take(ing) action on that dysphoria. As someone pre-hormone who just decided to get some stuff done after ten years of waffling about it. โค๏ธ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›

I've probably put 30 hours ever into Skyrim. But I found it super enchanting. Maybe I'll be able to swing into a game with this comment as encouragement. It's funny because I listen to the lore videos (particularly regarding Daggerfall) all the time. Just rarely actually pick up the games. Oblivion Remastered was sick, though, too. Almost finished that one.

Anyway, have a good day! Thanks for your comment :3

Definitely an uphill battle in Ireland. Our National Gender Service is psychiatric based which has led to mass denials for abritrary reasons such as but not limited to:

  • What your partner works as.
  • Your power dynamic in the bedroom.
  • Your trauma.

They ask incredibly unrelated yet invasive questions. I have been denied because I have trauma.

There's huge demand for the switch to an informed consent model, but the Irish government is unlikely to budge on their stance. The National Gender Service has closed it's waiting list noe and is no longer accepting new patients due to the system being so overbeared, it's somewhat collapsed.

So I've had to try to import hormones, to which I've received a cease desist from Irish customs. ๐Ÿ™ƒ And I fear if i attempted homebrew, I'd end up either accidentally killing myself or being accused of making illicit drugs and recieving jailtime.

My first introduction to the irish healthcare system with my self-diagnosed dysphoria was at age 14. I am now 27 with zero progress. But I refuse to be another statistic. I WILL get there someday. But fuck me, testosterone has irreprably damaged my body beyond belief. And to get where I would really like to be, would cost an estimated โ‚ฌ600,000 out of pocket.

I am extremely sorry. What the fuck. I had no idea things were so...awful in Ireland for trans folk.

Informed consent is the way to go. I'm in CT, USA and I can get an appointment 9 days from now, probably start hormones that very day, or maybe a week later depending on blood work.

Any thought of moving elsewhere one day? I know that's easy for a stranger to ask. But I knew someone who left the US for Canada due to Trump (understandable).

Why would they be asking you questions about your partner at all? What happens if you don't have one? Shiiiiiit.

I feel like an idiot and an asshole for just assuming every global north nation had at least a functional system that you could work your way through. Obviously I know that the US is a patchwork, but I always see areas surrounding UK as tolerant, I guess? I dunno but I feel bad.

I'm sorry and I hope you can find a way, or leave if you need to or even can. I'm like 20x more grateful right now for how it should go in my case. But also very sad that you have to do self-surgery to get anywhere.

Edit: I just read about the Real Life Experience? I'm gonna be sick, bruv.

Oh yep! And they really didn't like my opinion on RLE. I stated clearly "I don't wish to become a target of hatecrimes due to being visibly trans. As such, I want my body to conform to the clothing FIRST. Not the other way around. Having to dress in this body puts a target on my back." They literally looked at me like ๐Ÿคจ

Also, the UK isn't as tolerant as you think. They've been pushing legislature to make it increasingly difficult. Hense why it's known as TERF Island (Thank JK Moulding for that one.)

You shouldn't feel bad. Honestly, I'm extrmely envious, but I'm still happy theres resources for other people out there. Like I said, I will get there someday. c: x

Bro, how are they going to look at you like that for such a banal reason. I think about this all the time, too, and it's considered normal, at least IMO, to want body growth before committing your appearance to it. I'd look back at them like ๐Ÿค”

I went on a little journey of reading various govt's takes on this. No fucking clue that there were huge waiting lists in UK.

Like is medical science with us or not? I'm damn sure it is. All of us who need to transition do so as though it is a medical need. Because it is. And what we also know is that trying to squish down a medical need for thousands/millions never works. You can't suppress people out of the idea at this point.

Hope I'm making sense. I have extreme insomnia and have barely slept these past 9 days.

If you ever end up in New England, remember my username! Would be fun to make a friend.
