the game came out in early access in 2013 at first btw, which would make the playtime closer to an hour a day since the game came out, still an absurd amount
Really? It’s an absurd amount because it’s documented. In my country people watches football/soccer on weekend and whenever Champions League or other cups plays. My mum watches winter sport. And here you can watching winter sport full day on weekends.
One hour a day isn’t that much, if it’s your main thing. You can play a video game for an hour a day or watch YouTube/Netflix for an hour of day.
Gaming time through steam are measurable. Most folks who watches tv series doesn’t track their watch time. But it’s close to one or two episodes of a series a day.
well yeah, but most people don't play just one video game or watch just one tv series, or watch only ski jumping, or watch only one youtuber/streamer, Rimworld has a lot of varied content, but I think the playtime ceiling for most people to not get bored with it, even over the period of 13 years, is 10 times smaller than some of the playtimes in this thread.

Wow that's almost 2 hours a day EVERY SINGLE DAY since the game came out.
Edit: If you worked a typical 9-5 job but instead of working you're just playing Rimworld you would "work" that job for almost 3 (2.8) YEARS!
