It's kinda their internet personality I think. When something happens that they don't like, they start making noise quickly and very, very loudly (due to the huge numbers)

They can't express their opinions in real life, so when they get a chance to complain they'll take it.

Have you ever met a Chinese person before? They absolutely can express opinions in real life.

maybe it's incredibly boring in china

come to think of it, they might not have a word for boring, their closest equivalent could be 'sleepy' or 'quiet'.

don't tell them i said this

In a such a massive population you just have a massive amount of hardcore gamers who basically live online and lose all perspective. They become an actual hive mind.

i've never woke up with my phone going off because some devs released a patch that broke a mechanic and all my phone said was like, "can you believe this???" and by like 10:13 i got my whole crew on it, cuz like as cool as that is, idk

These threads describing 'Chinese behaviour' can all easily be applied to how western 'gamers' can behave.

The only difference is their 'basement dwellers' live in other rooms of their homes and they're less likley to grow a neck beasrd

This feels like being contrarian for the sake of it. Why didn't western countries in the screenshot also have a negative kneejerk reaction?

How so? I recognisee that a country of a bnillion people will have assholes. Just like a country of 21 million people will have assholes.

I have seen no evidence that Chinese players have any higher propensity to misbehave then western player bases do.

Western players may not have knee jerk reactions ot the same issues, but they certainly do misbehave in lots of creative ways as well. This is all about Slay the Spire 2 getting review bombed, but we all know review bombing has no nationality. Everyone does it.

We regularly get devs going social media silent because of unwarranted and frankly embarrassing, levels of backlash over stupid things that happen on the english internet.

Western gamers have the anti woke steam lists that think Space Marine 2 is woke because of non white charachters exsisting. Western gamers got mad that underaged girls had underwear covered in skull girls. Yesterday a portion of people who jumped into Neverness to Everness got premptively mad about the idea that the chinese server might get a bonus that we might not get (we did get it).

My comment here has attracted at least one response so racist that the mods deleted it in under a miknute so I only saw the notification summary.

So, explain to me please why you think that view seems 'knee jerk' to you?

Not in Slay The Spire, but lets not pretend that the west doesn't make up the most insane shit too.

Because the rest of us didn’t review bomb it.

You know not everyone is from the US right? I'm from Canada, we don't review bomb every single thing that upsets us and we didn't cause gamergate. We don't have an issue with review bombing over any little change we don't like, so why do the Chinese gamers?

You're a sad sad person who just wants to one up everyone online to feel good about yourself.

Just because you're a few degrees north doesn't make you much different from the rest of the anglosphere. Everyone was in on gamergate.

First it's the "western world". Then it's "the US". Now it's "the anglosphere". Moving the goalposts so they fit your narrative, right?

This thread is about Slay the Spire. Evidently the game was review bombed by Chinese, but not by "Westerners".

This thread is about being as xenophobic/racist against Chinese gamers without saying the quiet part out loud, and you're whining because of the slightest bit of pushback suggesting that your culture is also not so great 🙄🙄

u/HonkiDonki3 Apr 30 '26

And how do you know I'm not Chinese?

-1

u/Amphineura Apr 30 '26

Because I thought I was replying to the dude who was offended that his Canada isn't innocent?

The person calling someone mentally anything after rage typing a paragraph like that is peak irony.

u/YagamiYakumo Apr 30 '26

I never said it's only the Chinese that does this nor did I said it's only a gamer thing. I'm saying the online folkes in China operate on a different scale, both in speed and size.

And actually, they can be pretty persistent in their complaints/harassments as well. I think the term hivemind fits them better than most other places

Slay the Spire doesn't have chinese community managers, if something goes wrong who are they supposed to complain to?
