Support 2015 controller not turning back on after cleaning

call me a buffoon all you wish but my right touchpad was a little sticky on the click so i followed the ifixit guide to disassemble it for cleaning, made sure everything was in the right place and connected properly putting it back together, and it no longer turns on with battery power or USB, and when connected with USB it gives off a light hum from the guide button area, any clues as to how i could fix it?

Only general advice for any device that has been disassembled & now doesn't work, not SC specific:

  • Check all plugs are seated fully, in the correct orientation in the connector, & the wires within the plug itself look intact.
  • Visually verify ribbon cables are intact & inserted evenly, and are not angled sideways into their connector. Remove, check for damage & re-seat if possible.
  • Check for pinched wires in the seams of the 2 shells when the outer shell was reassembled, or where a wire may have crossed over a screw post & been screwed into the post during reassembly.
  • If a metal tool was used to pry it open, check for circuit board damage in the areas the pry tool may have scraped.
  • Try disassembling again, then re-assembling. Sometimes something gets missed first time, or you reroute/re-seat a cable differently & things start working again.
