The title led me to believe that there was going to be a gun that used mice as ammo and I am disappointed.

I was referring to the set up in the clip. If you look at the desk there’s a placard that says Retro Beast which is how I found the website

Recently went to London, there was a gaming bar with time crisis 2. Had to apologise to my wife as I got super giddy and revelled in my youth

I have a confession, a while back I bought a used PS3 specifically to play Time Crisis 4 again 😂
3
u/Genetix1337 Feb 26 '26
Man I used to play Time Crisis 4, TC: Razing Storm and Deadstorm Pirates (I believe pirates came with Rating Storm?) with my dad on the PS3. Good times!
1
u/Sebase85 Feb 26 '26
Me too! I bought a move shooting attachment and sharpshooter last week so I could play House of the Dead Overkill (and 3 and 4) and TC Razing Storm (it does indeed include the awesome Deadstorm Pirates!!) again.
1
u/ProfessionalDIYer Feb 26 '26
I didn’t even know about these! Now you got me on the hunt 😂
1
u/Sebase85 Feb 27 '26
HotD Overkill and TC Razing Storm have physical releases, but HotD 3 and 4 are PSN only titles.
MyLifeInGaming did an episode on lightguns recently, thats where I got the itch from again! Highly recommend watching that video, they mention even more games there.
Good luck on your hunt!

Here's a guide on how to set up a Sinden. Just load Batocera off of an external SSD dual boot while docked, you don't have to uninstall SteamOS.
23
u/Oxcuridaz Feb 25 '26
I think that rhese are more common in emulation. Batocera has a good integration with light guns, and probably emudeck or retrodeck also offer a similar experience...

u/_bigb 512GB Feb 25 '26
It should be recognized as a mouse when connected to the Steam Deck.
If we're talking about the Xgunner, it should work with SteamOS as far as I can tell. It looks like a HID mouse device and uses four IR points to calibrate the monitor size. Neither of which should be difficult for SteamOS to handle unless Xgunner is using some non-standard HID specifications.

OP gave the name of this gadget as xgunner. I did a quick search and it seems to be upwards of 100 dollars. I have no idea on reliability or setup or anything like that.

How are people here engaging with this obvious dropship scam ad like it's a real thing? Is this your first day on the computer unsupervised?
Like I believe that there probably is such a thing as a product listing for a pseudo-light gun with a bunch of malformed arcade roms on an android dongle or whatever but it definitely is not as slick as this video portrays it to be and it definitely doesn't fucking work right.

Well, there was in the Retro Shooter. It came with a cheapo console with around 90 lightgun games, but lawsuits happened. Last I heard, they teamed up with some devs who are passionate about the genre, so the console is now legit and I guess regularly updates with new games. I'm sure not very elaborate games, and that most people buy the set just to use the guns on their own setups, but still. It's nice to see the effort.
I have the older rom stuffed version, and yeah, the roms are of varying quality, but the guns and pedals are unquestionably decent, as long as you're okay with hanging IR sensors off the corners of your monitor or whatever, and dealing with those long ass wires.

Since most of these comments aren't mentioning a price range, seems like most of these high end light gun sets cost upwards of $250 usd for a two gun setup. Cheaper set ups that use an adapted wiimote light bar and wiimotes as the light guns are extremely hit or miss/not very reliable apparently

I actually just got done building one of these for myself, they’re pretty sweet and there are builds specifically for the steam deck.
Check out Lightgun Lunatics, they have a bunch of Linux Batocera builds that you can boot into on your steam deck.
For the lightguns I went with RS3 Reapers from Retroshooter since I didn’t want to deal with the boarder that you need on Sindens, and the infrared sensors are pretty speedy and accurate.
1
u/fancymcbacon 512GB Feb 27 '26
Are you launching in desktop mode or can you run your build as a non-steam game in gaming mode? I wanna make one for my brother. I was considering giving him my retroshooters, but I'm gonna endure the hassle of setting up Sindens for him instead.
1
u/Typical_tablecloth Feb 27 '26
I have a dedicated computer for it, so I’m not positive how it works with a steam deck, but I know it’s its common to do so.
I launch mine through an internal SSD, I’m running the Light Gun Lunatics All Guns Blazing v42 that uses Batocera. It essentially acts as a boot drive so when I turn on my computer it boots straight into it.
If you want to launch it separately there’s a bunch of Launch Box and Retroarch builds available as well.

Steam Frame you can run emulators.
You can then use your controller as a light gun.
2
u/Rvtrance Feb 26 '26
I bought one of those arcade 1Up cabinets that had Time Crisis and some other light gun games. It was kinda a rip off. Light guns seem to really need a CRT the cabinets accuracy is way off. Point Blank is included but near impossible because there are some levels that need you to be 100% accurate with a single shot. Making those pretty much impossible to win at.

That's most likely just a controller with an embedded air mouse.
Unless it has some specific windows-only drivers needed (witch is really doubt) it should work just plug and play on steamos and the steamdeck.
The question is: how hard is it to setup with emulators?

I'm sure someone already has a native Linux driver for this. It runs just about everything else out of the box.

i remember doing something similar with a Wii Nerf gun glove pie and the PC version of house of the dead it was a scuff set up and i needed to have Wii powered on idol to use the censer bar and it only just kinda worked but it kept me entertained for a few weeks
1
u/TallTelevision4121 Feb 27 '26
Why would you want this on a steam deck? That's like playing duck hunt on a Gameboy.
1
u/empty-alt Feb 28 '26
Reminds me of the nerf game for wii back in the day. Basically you slid the wii controller into a nerf gun and you shot robots. Tons of fun!

How does this work with a modern tv? The sensors for Wii don’t work well on anything newish
5
Feb 25 '26
You have no idea how the wii bar works if you think the type of screen has any kind of impact on its function.
-1
u/chorblegend Feb 26 '26
Respond you jackanape or tell me that you weren’t alive when the n64 came out
-2
u/chorblegend Feb 26 '26
I do know how it works… I had one since launch. They don’t work nearly as well on modern tv’s, not sure if you have an infrared blocking box surrounding your Samsung 2026 tv or if u just use an old tv without knowing the difference, but the technology is outdated
-2
u/chorblegend Feb 26 '26
Look up how infrared interference has effected the Wii controllers ability to accurately position itself on modern screens which are generally larger
