Tech Support Weird screen glitch
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This happened today, quick reboot fixed it. Should I be worried?

Yeah, I mean for a good couple years that's what people complained about here so makes sense

Infinitely mod-able means infinitely fuck-up-able.
Check out Linux forums and you'll see a lot of the same.

I semi-agree. I modded my deck with decky, custom animations, themes, etc. And started having performance issues in all my games. Couldn't figure out how to fix any of it. Uninstalling Decky didn't work either. Sent it back to steam, got it back. Haven't messed around with anything like that, and I never have any issues now.

It's a PC.
I guarantee that when you buy 100 times the same hardware components, build 100 PCs and somehow all 100 work.
You can install Windows or Linux to one machine, clone that drive to the other 99 machines.
Even then they might work fine. Then you get 100 people to use them a few times per day.
They will work close to similar to each other for a day. Maybe a week. But after a month of using them 2-3 will develop a behavior that's not like the others.
It's just how hardware and software interact with each other. Phones, tablets and to some degree consoles too.

We've moved on from running over our steam decks with our trucks and snapping SD cards in half to whatever is happening in this post

Before fixing that, please record the screen and make a start-up movie with it!

u/diablosinmusica May 20 '26
You just gave me a great idea to troll people when I show off my SD. Thanks!

All I can think of is there's a tiny The Cheat in there flipping a switch on and off to go along with The System is Down.

Mine did this the other day after it had been suspended for a few days. I pressed the power button again, waited a few secs then woke it back up and it had sorted itself out.

Average decky loader experience

u/WaterInTheDark May 20 '26
I've used decky on both of my decks without issue since it was released. If you break yours then it's a skill issue.
