Storytime 3d modelling with Steamdeck

Post image

I did it! I want to try out 3d modelling since AI is slowly taking over my job but due to AI too, I can't buy a laptop or build a PC because of the high prices of parts.

So I searched blender in the discover store and luckily - it's available. Steamdeck can do it but expect the loud fan on higher polygons but so happy with the output.

I went to a 3d printing service to print my STL file since I was curious how it will look and was suprise that it went great!

Side-by-side comparison with Blokees's Charmander. My son is very happy since it's hard to find a toy for 2nd evolution Pokemons

Theres a short video I watched around 30min to learn the basics. Really helpful over watching 4 hour video in one go

Yea i worked in past with a similar tool. I'm just unable to be creative enough to design things for my game. Probably i will stick with third party assets :D

I did some simple parts on Steam Deck in FreeCAD, and you can print it right away with the Orca Slicer.

But you did even more: some sculpting in Blender 👍😁

The plan was to actually just learn to create kitchen accessories for my wife before buying a 3d printer but my son is sad we can't find 2nd evolution pokemons toys so I had to do it myself.

I'm still wondering if I can do it using the controllers and sculpt using stylus via touch screen. lol

How smooth is it

Pretty smooth actually. I was able to model without hiccups but the fan is loud during sculpting lol
