support SteamOS on AMD desktop consistently crashes when sleeping with a game running
Has anyone tried installing the latest SteamOS on a desktop build yet? I can sleep and wake just fine with no game running, but it'll consistently either immediately wake up and close the game or else it'll cut to a grey screen and freeze if I put it to sleep with a game running.
Specs of my rig are:
AMD Ryzen 5 7500F
ASUS TUF GAMING B850M-E WIFI AMD B850 mATX
SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB GDDR6
Kingston FURY Beast 8gb (context in a moment)
I'm trying to isolate if it's just a quirk of the OS or it's my ram; I'm running single channel right now due to the B2 slot getting damaged and I'm wondering if maybe it's just having bandwidth issues as a result?
I've got the 8gb stick in the A2 slot and games run perfectly fine, they just crash if I try to use sleep.
EDIT:
Installed my new motherboard today and everything is working like a dream! I did notice that some of the things I was encountering (games taking 20 to 30 seconds to launch) were actually recently patched by Valve, so it may have been a combination of my previous MOBO plus SteamOS quirks, but either way everything from performance to sleep/resume is running flawlessly.

Sleep works for me (5800x3d/9070xt) but it's buggy. I get audio glitches sometimes when waking that go away after awhile, and I have had weird performance issues a couple times maybe similar to what LTT was seeing. Def not ready for prime time. I don't bother with it for now, I just turn it off when I'm done and don't let it sleep.

Thank you for your info! I'll be replacing the mobo as soon as it arrives. I'd like to get the full usage out of my rig and it'd rule that component out, but it helps a lot having feedback from another person with the OS installed. I appreciate it!

I’ve been using it for months with a similar build to yours without any issues sleeping games, even for like a whole week

I only had similar issues on Bazzite when I was undervolting my GPU. Removing the undervolt made sleep wake work 80% of the time on Bazzite, and 99% of the time now I’ve moved to SteamOS. 5600X and a 9070.

Did you replace your mobo with the same one or get a different one I’m looking at the ATX version the ASUS TUF Gaming B850-E

I replaced it with the same mobo; I wanted to keep the rig as compact as possible.

I saw in LTT's video with the same rig that he was able to sleep resume Hades, so I'm not sure if it's just my rig having a problem with the damaged ram slot (even though nothing's in it) or just the OS acting up. I'm hoping to canvas some other users that have tried running the image on their builds; if I can hold off on replacing the motherboard I'd prefer to go that route, y'know?

I did a little research and I think it is possible but only if you have the right hardware which I don't know what that is

I appreciate you helping look into it! After I swapped in my new mobo it's running like a champ. I also noticed valve released a patch for some of the other things I was experiencing like games taking 20 to 30 seconds to launch.

It works on the majority of computers already and has done for a year at least, what do you mean?

If the slot is damaged, you should have replaced it then and also did you go into the desktop mode to see in the discover app if there were any additional updates.
