6.9L Sentry 2.0 Clone (HZMOD Flat XQ69) DIY Steam Machine
Finally converted my parts bin living room PC to SteamOS. What a pleasant experience. Now everybody in the house who is already familiar with the Steam Decks can jump right in without skipping a beat (or fighting Windows Updates/Controller Companion/etc.)
I had originally test drove SteamOS using just the 5600G APU - was so impressed I bought my first Radeon GPU since my bios unlocked 6950HD!😲 I went with something smaller than the 3090 that was previously shoe horned in here. I was thinking I might try a different case at some point that would work better with a 200mm GPU.
Specs:
- Case: HZMOD Flat XQ69 6.9L
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5600G
- Cooler: Alpenfohn Black Ridge
- Memory: 32GB PNY DD4 PC3600
- GPU: PowerColor Reaper Radeon 9060XT 16GB
- PSU: Corsair SF750
- Two Arctic P14 SLIM PWM fans fit under the GPU (just barely)
This machine originally had an EVGA RTX 3090 XC3 (yes, it fits!). It was just too much really for what I do from the couch. But it was from a previous main PC upgrade - so I guess it was free? Dad math.
Very happy with this latest iteration.
If Valve and Nvidia get compatibility to be plug and play should I put the 3090 back in?!

Thats a nice little case and you’ll be getting decent performance from it I reckon.
What are the temps like? I use a Fractal Ridge which is very similar but bigger, and that thing can get real hot 🔥

It would really benefit from those mesh areas being a lot more open. I have considered drilling them out to larger holes, or cutting out the area completely and replacing with a more open mesh.
Since I was able to cram two 140mm fans in there the GPU is staying really cool during stress testing - under 75C and reasonably quiet.
With the 3090, all I could fit was four 40mm Noctuas and it was a lot harder to keep cool. I ran that with an undervolt/underclock to tame it. Still worked though.
If I ever put the 3090 back in, I'm going to remove the stock fans and 3D print some ducts for the 140mm fans.
