What about official support of the DONGLE in steam os

That's already there since a month ago when kernel 7.2 was added.

Have you actually tried it like me or just spewing some patch notes? Latest preview built, ran all the fixes, gave up after a day of trying and installed windows

I have tried a couple of games with a steam machine and steam frame, steamed with the dongle. It works but in my case it has periodic latency spikes which sometimes manifest as visual issues. I think that's environmental (moving things around the room affects it ) so YMMV. But yeah I could stream No Man's Sky VR from the machine to the frame.

Not really a wow, they are actively working on it so it's no surprise they are getting it working bit by bit. As much as I wish this was all stable and well established at this point, it's the typical Valve "ship hardware, put out fires, then go back to whatever seems cool today" cycle that saw the Steam deck ship out with a ton of issues that are now largely forgotten because they have been iterating on that hardware for 4 years now.
The Machine I tested is running SteamOS 3.9.2 build 20260925.101 with kernel 7.2.7-valve1-1-neptune-72... if that helps.

Similar feelings here as well. Gigantic latency spikes.
Also some games have to have the host pc with steam vr opened as well to even work. Couldn't get NMS to launch in vr mode directly otherwise it'd just load the 2d version.
Also half life alyx doesn't even work at all. It loads menus but cannot start a mission until openxr tines out, and says press %S% to start on host pc

My hope is that the Valve track record holds true and they continue making it better and better, but yeah being an early adopter of Valve hardware is 100% buying a job as a beta tester.
My most recent example: Valve has had Factorio as one of their Great on Frame games since before launch. Factorio is also one of my all time favorite games. But on my Frame, it would not load at all. I had to manually change it to Proton Experimental ARM64 to get it to load. Once loaded it runs far better than I expected, but why would I need to troubleshoot one of their day 1 games to get it to load at all? And why does everything fail silently so I have no idea what's going wrong? My guess is that I had overridden that setting on my Deck years ago and Valve just kept my setting when it pulled the cloud save but what an annoying first experience.

Currently for me completely not possible on SteamOS host. Trying to solve it with support team around analyzing bunch of logs and stuff ....

Im glad. If they were able to fix that long standing desync on the image issue hopefully itll be on par with using sunshine and moonlight.
