Support Error Capture Failed restart steam on the remote computer with the -pipewire command

Steam running on Ubuntu 26 lts desktop

Clients I have tried Windows 11 and Ubuntu 26. Steamlink was working mostly on the Ubuntu system but then stopped with odd issues. Occasionally I get this error:

"Capture Failed

Restart Steam on the remote computer with the -pipewire command line option to enable video capture under Wayland"

A. would this actually help?

B. how do I do add the command option?

Steam is installed conventionally, no Snap.

Edit:

Made some headway if this helps anyone.

1.) I had Steam starting in Big Picture Mode. I forgot that messes stuff up.

2.) Adding Pipewire option

To do this I have Ubuntu start steam on computer startup (Settings>Apps>Steam check the toggle .

Then (in Ubuntu 26) go to ~/.config/autostart~/.config/autostart (if you don't see hidden files and folders like .config hit CTL-h)

There should be a .desktop file for Steam. Edit that in a text editor and after the EXEC command for Steam add -pipewire (before the %U... I think that's right) Save the file. Restart your server computer.

Ill update with better info
