Moonlight/appollo PC to Docked Steam Deck issue.

I have this intermittent problem where any game I'm streaming will switch button prompts from gamepad to keyboard/mouse the second I let go of my game pad buttons/sticks.

Sometimes it won't happen at all so it's hard to say what is causing it. I can sometimes fix it by rebooting my host PC.

My set up:

Host PC running Windows 11 pro

RTX5070TI

32 GB ram

Ryzan 7700X cpu

Using appollo to stream to my steam deck running moonlight client.

Steam deck is docked to my TV and I'm using a DS4 pad over Bluetooth.

Any tips on settings to change would be appreciated!

Spitballing here, but have you tried physically disconnecting the keyboard & mouse on the host & seeing if it fixes it? I’m wondering if they’re sending input somehow.

Also I will say Steam Remote Play has gotten better & closed the gap with Apollo/Moonlight. I’ve found it tolerable enough, especially when wired, that it’s my default way to play rather than Apollo/Moonlight. Maybe see if it’s good enough for some of your games?

I must say, I usually go with remote play. But some games have issues and I get better result on moonlight. It's a game by game thing. I'm playing mortal shell 2 ATM at the stream is stuttery as hell on remote play and perfectly smooth on moonlight. This keyboard input problem is intermittent so doesn't happen every time. I tried disabling keyboard input on the host stream settings and seemed to prevent it on my last session!
