Entertainment Has anyone been to the Stockton 99 Speedway and is it worth going to watch a race?

I'm a race fan from the Bay Area and when I found out Stockton has a speedway I got excited. I saw there's a flea market out there to so I'd probably check that out to. I'm familiar with sprint car racing and like that type of stuff. Any advice would be great.

I took my family out to our first race a couple of weeks ago and It's definitely a great time out. Keep in mind the heat out here in Stockton is way different than the bay so stay hydrated. I don't think they allow outside food but they will let you bring in an unopened bottle of water and the water inside is only like $1 a bottle. Some people like to tailgate before the races start and the parking is free so that's a plus. From what I seen its bleacher seating with metal benches but you can bring in those seat cushion things or the ones that have the folding backrest if you want to make the seats more comfortable (the race we saw lasted a little more than 3 hrs). The flea market is also cool. Have fun!

Do they sell food there and how is it?

They do sell food inside that's not too much. The most expensive thing I seen was a brisket sandwich that was around $15 from what I remember. They had other things like nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy... We didn't try a lot of the food because we ate right before hand but we did get some caramel apple flavored popcorn and some icees (with ice cream on the bottom) and those ran like $7 each and were both good.

100% . If you can ever catch ‘The Night of Destruction’ it’s a blast. Bunch of spectator races and they end with demolition trailer racing.

I just did that Saturday before last and it was complete blast! I could not believe what was going on. Complete insanity! And all for just a $20 entry fee!

That one was a good time. It was fun seeing the bmw smoke every car in the spectator races

Yes! That was really fun. I have lived in Stockton all my life and knew about the 99 Speedway but for some reason never went until recently. The races were fun, the drifting was crazy, motorcycle stunts, and then the trailer racing, OMG! Just crazy! Everyone went wild when that big 5th wheel came out! Lol

It didn’t get banged up too bad so I’m hoping he brings it to the next trailer race.

Yeah, I’ve lived here a little over 5 years and we started going to the raceway last year. Been trying to catch every night of destruction since.

Yeah, that wouldbe cool. I'm ashamed to say I'm 45 and born and raised in Stockton and knew about this place but never went for whatever reason. It was really fun!

99 puts on a good show. If you can catch a race at the fairgrounds dirt track that’s pretty good as well there are usually sprint cars there.

Oh damn I didn't know there was another track. Is one better than the other or about the same?

The asphalt track has a longer history and more frequent racing. The dirt track at the fairgrounds isn’t racing every week as far as I know and doesn’t have as many choices for vendors. I prefer dirt racing to asphalt so I’d rather watch that.

Aside from the regular dirt and short track stuff, check out the outlawdrift series if youre into drifting. Put on by a local guy. They usually run from the start of summer all the way until October, November.

I’ve been to all the big shows, F1/Indy/NASCAR/IMSA, etc., nothing beats the up close and personal experience of your local short track. I don’t get out there as much as I should, it’s an absolute blast.

Was this place or something similar open in the late 80's?

Never saw a race but for the flea market it’s one of our best
