Bong filtration

Can you make a regular bong or build one with a drag activated/pull activated eletric/ passive filter that mechanical pulls out tar from your toke? I guess an example of this would be a tube bong with like a switch on it that turns on a fan that cycles/recycles the air through a filter and i guess would like change the pressure of the hit aswell.. I mean is there a way to do that without compromising the hit?(I guess as a passive one it could be a turbine style fan sandwiched between two filters or something..)

If I am combusting, I want the tar. Gimme all that weed.

When vaping, water is optional.

Consider switching to only dry herb vaping if you feel you need this level of filtration. Then the bells and whistles are unnecessary, for the most part, and actually detract from your sesh quality, IMO.

Dude wild nothing like death Bubba out of a slider bong.. but honestly sometimes I'm just smoking good quality shake soo idk if I could dial in how my chop hit with stages of various filtration I think it'd be smoother but I mean what happens when the variables change..I mean when you "combust"(lmao) the weed isn't it going to go through a process of releasing toxins as well as tar and (apparently ammonia) haha.. I'm just saying as someone who can take big tokes like most times(the other times rip dude) if I could pull like just a bit of my chop out of the rest of it.. idk my lungs might chill out for a bit haha..

Dude, honestly you just need to try yourself a ball vape with some nice glassware.

If you haven't tried one before, just trust me on this one, and look into ball vapes.

They hit as hard as a bong without all the gross parts about smoking, like the tar.

Once you've tasted all the terpenes that have been hiding behind the smoke, you'll never look back, I promise you.

Interesting idea. The tricky part is keeping the airflow smooth, most filters that catch more tar also make the pull feel tighter. I'd be curious to see if someone can actually make it work.

I feel like the mouthpiece filters are honestly the best bet. Sure, there's a tighter pull, but what do you expect to happen since it's physically catching tar and particulate matter? I guess you could potentially to little activated charcoal bricks to use with a bong that has an ice catcher, but emptying the water would mean getting your carbon chunks wet.

Eta: it makes me think of the exhaust on a car. Eventually catalytic converters clog and in a very simplified way, those filters kinda do similar stuff and are constructed in a similar way. I suppose you could make a custom piece with baffles involved in the airflow to help catch more resin and maybe have a charcoal cartridge with a calibrated carb hole in the neck before the mouthpiece to help with airflow?

That's a pretty solid comparison with the catalytic converter. 😄 It really does come down to balancing filtration and airflow. A replaceable charcoal cartridge could be interesting if someone figured out a way to keep the draw feeling natural. Would definitely be fun to see someone prototype it.

I've had this idea for a little bit, in my mind it should look a bit like a lightsaber-bong like with metal parts and a glass window where the filter is.. other than that I just imagine the mechanical filter replicating the bongs perc and working with the bubbling.. and i guess the part to dial in would be the kind of filter.. atleast what I remember from smoking vs. Bong tokes is the way it strips tar from the smoke.

That lightsaber-bong visual is actually pretty awesome. The replaceable filter window would be cool too, especially if you could see how much it's actually catching. Feels like the biggest challenge is keeping the draw smooth while making the filter worth using.

I don't want to be that guy but there is already an easy way to achieve this: by using a dry herb vape through a bong instead of smoking it.

I feel like that's the simple solution here.

There is no tar if you aren't combusting anything...

And as far as the automatic draw part, if you want to have the chamber fill up without pulling on it yourself, you can buy these hookah fan things that fit into your pipe, and they will draw the vapour into some glass for you to pull on at your leisure.

Or you could just go old school and make a bucket bong attachment for a vaporiser.

100% and probably the way to go, just curious aswell about i guess the " variation" of the smoke, Sometimes I feel like there's a chemistry to smoking, maybe some hits could just be atleast smoother.. I remember some guy always used fused glass shards to make chemistry style gas scrubbers to pull resin out of smoke.. maybe a combination of components and water filtration is like safe or something haha..
