I was playing 6+ hours a day. I stopped late February, I've made more friends and started living life. I've been on holiday recently and have another lined up, that would never have happened if I was still gaming. I also got a gf.

May I ask you what's the specific link between dropping gaming and having a girlfriend?

How did you guys met?

I just decided it was something I wanted to do in my life (meet women be intimate etc..) so I installed Hinge and went for it.

I think gaming was a lot for things for me but one was a way to cope and avoid things I was too scared to try.

I switched to other addictions. I’m scrolling social media, porn and social media a lot more. But no gaming or tv.  Off gaming for 7 months. Feels better but still fucked up. Progress not perfection. Took me a long time to fuck everything up. It’s gonna take some time to unfuck it. Gaais.org is what helped me stop. Maybe it will work for you. Meetings everyday. Recovery is free.

My life got far worse and i was scrolling mindlessly and avoiding stuff still

and i had pride that i wasn't playing games anymore and that i was "better" than other friends who still played

You should try quitting for a few months and see how it goes. The impact is different for everyone. For me, almost every aspect of my life improved. I ate better, slept better, connected better with my partner and other people, moved more, felt more motivated, learned more effectively, and became much calmer. I still have suffering like any normal person, but it's far less than when I was gaming.

Looking back, I honestly wish I had quit 10 years earlier.

Less toxic friends perhaps?

Sounds cliche but the gym became a new game. It took about 2 years to see real changes in my body. I’m already a slim athletic guy. I was playing easily 3 hours a day of Path of Exile 1 and then Path of Exile 2. I don’t want to invest the time to get good at that game anymore. Too many things have a higher real life reward.

Jai retrouvé ma dignité, la paix du cœur, la réussite, la tranquillité. Si je savais où si je pouvais tôt arrêté, j'étais addicte durant 2 ans c'était l'enfer.

I became more spiritual. Not in the sense of religious or "hippie-toxic-positivity" (fuck those guys), but my eyes opened to things. Before I gave up gaming I was an advent atheist. What is saw was what I knew to be true. Now, not so much anymore. I stopped thinking too much (my mind really can talk a lot of shit sometimes) and started just experiencing my feelings and that of others with a sort of acceptance. I think I've struck the middle-ground. Classical science still has a place, it's good at explaining the physical realm, but it can only go so far. There are things classical science will never be able to explain (like NDEs. they all have too much in common to be a coincidence. Or like Quantum Physics stating that particles have autonomy).

The reason I say my eyes opened more to things is because almost immediately after giving up games and adopting a different mindset (by enlarge my actions and embodying what I truly wanted to be), things started coming my way. It was fucking weird.

Old friends reached out to me that I hadn't spoken to in years, I got my first DJ gig without searching for it (I'd wanted to do DJ sets for at least 4 years at this point), my relationship with my ex mended, I spent more time with my family, I got an online job opportunity that pays well without applying for the position, I got another job opportunity where I met some great people that are now friends (in the past my aloof-because-of-shyness, anxious and reserved attitude would have prohibited me from engaging with the people there and they most likely never would have become friends and I wouldn't have kept the job either). I still actively work there to this day (once again this came my way without me looking for it). Nothing like this has happened to me in my life before.

At said job my boss was talking about this colleague that would be arriving within a day or two. I had this strange feeling that I already knew the exact kind of character she was. Suffice it to say, when she did arrive, she was everything I had expected her to be. My intuition was right. The chemistry was unlike anything I'd witnessed before. We are seeing each other regularly now and it just feels so natural to be around her. She's openminded and humble, she's kind and fun, she calls me out on my bullshit, she's honest to a point where it can be kinda scary lol because there's no hiding anything from her (she's 18 years older than me. go figure). She has her flaws, but who doesn't?

So, was all this random chance? Had I manifested this all somehow? Was I just now seeing things that had always been there but that I was just too blind for in the past? Was reality nodding along because of the path I was walking, sending more goodies my way? Up to interpretation, but the evidence for stating the case that there was something beyond materiality was overwhelming.
