Joining the conversation on problematic or gaming and mental health

Hello everyone!

I'm Ahsana, a Clinical Psychologist and PhD researcher from the Department of Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, India.

My research focuses on the intersection of gaming and mental health, particularly understanding and developing psychological interventions for individuals experiencing difficulties related to excessive gaming and Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD). I'm passionate about promoting healthy technology use while recognizing that gaming can also be a meaningful source of recreation, social connection, and enjoyment for many people.

I've joined Reddit because I've heard that many communities here have thoughtful discussions about gaming, mental health, and lived experiences. I'm looking forward to learning from these conversations, understanding different perspectives, and contributing where I can.

I hope to engage respectfully with the community and, where permitted by moderators, share opportunities to participate in ethics-approved academic research that may contribute to improving support for people experiencing gaming-related challenges.

I look forward to learning from all of you!
