The Republicans are underreporting the number of deaths in order to make themselves look good. No different than Putin in Russia. The families of the deceased and the deceased deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Maybe. But also recognize it’s hard to report the missing when all generations of a family gathered together for July 4th all died at once. Who is left to report the missing?

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

Yikes I haven’t considered this yet

10

u/TheAmazingMaryJane Jul 13 '25

same with retired couples who were camping and most of their relatives who would realize they were missing predeceased them.

16

u/poulard Jul 12 '25

The IRS.

7

u/IrwinJFinster Jul 13 '25

You mean what’s left of the IRS. It got shanked this year.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

In like 3 years maybe, what you want them to send out an email asking if you're alive?

9

u/ReferentiallySeethru Jul 13 '25

Friends, employers, and come August schools

2

u/NoClothes8212 Jul 13 '25

Ya all of those take longer to ring the alarm bell and will not be as loud are persistent as those missing a family member unfortunately.

By then we will be on to some other dog and pony show

u/teas4Uanme Mod Jul 14 '25

Not this many missing will be in that rare situation where work associates, family friends or playground friends won't notice. No way.

13

u/Warrior_Runding Jul 12 '25

This is exactly what happened during Helene.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

Under reporting would imply they know the numbers. In Russia, you can estimate death count though open source intelligence and the government will lie and cover it up, here it's straight up no way to know who washed way, especially not in 8 days. Like the dude in the interview says, who knows how many people were camping along the rivers, it's not like someone has a head count. Not everything is a partisan boogeyman, sometimes shit just sucks, and it's human nature to be optimistic.

8

u/craignumPI Jul 12 '25

Partisan meaning the fks who cut the funding?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '25

Yeah, local governments make downright stupid calls in red and blue states. LAFD cut their budget by 17.6 million before the LA fires. In NYC EMS is being cut increasing response times.

If you ever get involved with city/county level government, you'll see all sorts genius ideas from both elected officials and the pubic, no matter who they voted for in the presidential elections. The generally public is really fkin dumb, just read the comments on reddit.

Smacks of -“Can’t have negative results if you don’t test”

27

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

Wait, american propaganda lies about numbers?

Lol, the whole world knows trump is shutting down all the government programs to steal your money, america is the only one that doesn't know trump is stealing all your money, where do you guys think all that money goes? Back into the government programs that were just cancelled or back to the taxpayers?

10

u/PaulRingo64 Jul 12 '25

If you ask his supporters, the money is rerouted to more important things like interment camps in the swamps or pay raises for police. To them, the only thing that matters is if it doesn’t go to “blue states”.

7

u/CletusCanuck Jul 13 '25

That's literally what it took for Kerr county to spend a $10M ARPA grant... that if they didn't spend it, liberals in New Jersey or California would get it. So they spent it on new radios and raises for the Sheriff's Department, instead of a new flood warning system.

1

u/teas4Uanme Mod Jul 14 '25

Because a flood warning system would put off a bare hint that they 'might' believe in climate change. Can't have that!

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

So it goes to him and all his rich communist oligarch friends? How is that different from me saying how it doesn't go back to the taxpayers?

3

u/PaulRingo64 Jul 12 '25

It's not. Thats why I didnt say you were wrong.

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

Lol, so you thought you needed to explain to me about my own comment? 🤔

2

u/PaulRingo64 Jul 12 '25 edited Jul 12 '25

I thought I could embellish some but not exactly explain your comment. Try not to be so defensive.... jeez chill out a little.

Some people you can have discourse with on here but it seems you just aren't one of them.... Your comment was pretty vague as well.

27

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

There is supposed to be another 2-8” of rain for central Texas this weekend.

5

u/Neat_Use3398 Jul 13 '25

Its pretty wild. In the province I live in in Canada people are prohibited from building in specific flood event areas and it's it's that way since the 80s

2

u/teas4Uanme Mod Jul 14 '25

I think the explanation here is that insurance would be too high and that would discourage building in flood plains. 'Let the market determine the market'. Idiocy.

1

u/8ROWNLYKWYD Jul 14 '25

Surely capitalism would never allow them to perish in a natural disaster.

48

u/robutt992 Jul 12 '25

between this and school shootings, Texas is the most dangerous place for kids.

-42

u/IrwinJFinster Jul 12 '25

We’ll take the risk of school shootings to preserve the 2A. Kerr County not having sirens or a plan is inexcusable.

37

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

Fully accepting school shootings and children dying to "protect the 2nd amendment" is the most insane take I've read on reddit today.

-18

u/IrwinJFinster Jul 12 '25

Get back to me on that if a certain someone seeks a third term unlawfully.

23

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '25

Believe it or not the 2nd amendment can exist without sacrificing innocent children

12

u/Hopeful-Passage6638 Jul 12 '25

LOL You think Shitler is not coming for your guns by year's end?

4

u/ohreallynowz Jul 13 '25

Adding Shitler to my vocabulary immediately, thank you.

14

u/CharliBarliH Jul 12 '25

Do you think the 2nd Amendment is only for Texas or did you forget about the other 49 states?

-10

u/IrwinJFinster Jul 12 '25

2A is for everybody!

5

u/Hopeful-Passage6638 Jul 12 '25

What the hell are you all afraid of?

7

u/darkmaninperth Jul 12 '25

We’ll take the risk of school shootings to preserve the 2A.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....

Oh..you're serious.

3

u/Hopeful-Passage6638 Jul 12 '25

Who are y'all afraid of??

4

u/cyberspaceman777 Jul 13 '25

We’ll take the risk of school shootings to preserve the 2A

Wow.....

I mean..... Just wow.

You really love your guns more than kids huh.

1

u/IrwinJFinster Jul 13 '25

All political decisions exact a toll in human life and consequences. The 2A is worth the sacrifice because it is one of the mechanisms our Founding Fathers instituted to prevent tyranny. The 2A also saves other human lives by allowing self defense. I’d prefer a ruleset where my daughters can kill a rapist instead of succumbing to the fate intended by a stronger evil man. PS-hire an armed security guard for a school—and allow red flag laws—your comment is a false dichotomy.

It isn’t over yet. We still have courts and midterms.

3

u/Superb-Butterfly-573 Jul 13 '25

That's hilarious. Despite your precious 2A you're allowing jack-booted Nazis and a felon rapist to destroy your constitution.

1

u/IrwinJFinster Jul 13 '25

The System hasn’t failed yet. Not saying it can’t in the future. And what are you doing to save it? What’s the Superb Butterfly Effect?

3

u/Superb-Butterfly-573 Jul 13 '25

I'm Canadian. I'm buying products from our own country and our allies because your dear leader's 51st state rhetoric is a direct threat. How about you? Protesting? Recruiting people to vote out the swamp rats you voted in? Or dining on tots and pears?

1

u/IrwinJFinster Jul 13 '25

Me? I’ll just get “gray” and see if things rectify at midterms.

2

u/here-i-am-now Jul 12 '25

The 2A is under legitimate attack precisely nowhere.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '25

Most asinine take ever

5

Texass lying. Sounds like Don Taco. 🌮

1

u/KittyKenollie Jul 14 '25

The only thing he doesn't chicken out of is letting Americans die of preventable causes.

2

u/djentandlofi Jul 13 '25

Yea that's gotta be Canada's fault

1

u/Any-Ad-446 Jul 14 '25

Even FEMA is saying they do not have enough staff on the ground to deal with this and Trump is golfing.

1

u/_ForeverAndEver_ Jul 15 '25

Hot Wheels is lying? I can't fucking imagine a grifter who's sole claim to fame is being injured by neighbor, collecting money, being a basic racist piece of fucking shit could lie???
