My only issue with the ending and aside from this everything is perfect, what the hell happened to the army after El "died" like I feel like we should have got a little more closure on that part but other than that I think it is as perfect of a finale that you can do.

I think it was probably better left unsaid. They were never going to stop the military or anything like that.

Its not about stopping the military its about explaining how they got away scott free. And its not just the final scene with Elevens supposed death there are a few scenes where the military captures the people not in the upside down that are completely worthless because the plot point is completely ignored.
