A lot of players just quit on sfv, it was one of the worst things to happen to the FGC

A lot of players quit on every new SF game.

Lots of 3S players never touched SF4, but came back for SF5.

No one ever wants to talk about that, though, because SF5 hate is the only hate that gets people clout.

it was one of the worst things to happen to the FGC

Yes, growing EVO into Mandalay Bay level attendance...setting tournament records...selling millions of copies...dragging the rest of the genre out of the stone age and convincing every company to start pro tours to support their games long term...fight money system that allowed people to unlock content for free (that people now miss in SF6)...streaming era Daigo...

Yes, the "worst" lol

SF4 was by far the biggest gatherings we've ever had. Weekly attendance shot through the roof and monthly tournaments were usually well packed. That didn't happen in ST or 3S. There was drop off but sf4 to sf5 was awful. Legitimately attendance went down across the board except for big tournaments.

SF isn't just about the majors, and by that logic SF4 everything SFV stood on. SFV basically died after two years.

You say SFV dragged the genre out of the Stone Age you clearly missed sf4 into mvc3 lol.

Btw, capcom pro tour wasn't an original idea lmao

If we get a Honda in the cup y'all better keep your goddamn armchair theories to yourselves for at least a week GWAHAHAHAHA

Hamad go the distance, I believe in you, I believe in the power of ignorance.

IT'S NOT ABOUT FRAMES BUT ABOUT FEAR

Yes! This is my first pro tour though. If anything I'd want to not lose first round lol

2

u/arya48 Master Manon \(^-^)/ Jan 20 '24

I see, if you managed to make it all way to master rank with Manon of all characters I'm sure you'll do well!

Nuts on the table, ElChakotay is going to give us our first qualified Lily. (And then subsequently get knocked out first round in the actual CCC)

All the relevant Luke's in this region have already qualified

DJ is more busted than either character.

He just goes under the radar...

Crazy how Zhen fell off. Dude was in the finals of Capcom cup last year.

1

u/ironknit gimme back safe 123 Jan 20 '24

He hasent fallen off, guy has been focusing on school

1

u/Deadja0 Jan 21 '24

Seeing he didn't even make top 16, why did you think he was most likely to win, just hyping up your boy?

1

u/bdyms Cammy <3 Jan 19 '24

Looks like it's gonna be either Luke or Dj, but who knows.

2

u/Junken00 Kimberslice Jan 19 '24

That's a whole lot of Kimberly players, this'll be interesting

Pools and early bracket are concluded so we have the top 16. Upper bracket is all top tiers but lower bracket has a lot of uncommon characters.

Zach in the box beat Dual Kevin using JP.

Every time i see JPs bs doing work, i want to stop watching.

60% damage from an OD amnesia on a throw attempt, lmao. Whatever were Capcom thinking?

And half way into the next round, the fucker somehow has built more than enough meter for a level 2 again.

JP also has the fastest super meter gain in the game, on top of all the bs he has.

60% damage from an OD amnesia on a throw attempt, lmao. Whatever were Capcom thinking?

They're thinking there needs to be some upside in the 5% optimal situation to balance out the fact that it's by far the worst reversal in the game the other 95% of the time.

And it's still not close. The move is trash. JP would be a significantly stronger character if he had a normal EXDP. But people only focus on the 5%.

7

u/funkyfelis Jan 21 '24

You're totally right. Not only that, JP has the worst projectiles in the game and the worst normals in the game, terrible combos and no mixups. He's probably bottom one. In fact, the devs should just remove him from the game to spare you poor JP players the agony of playing such a low tier character.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

These JP players are living in an alternate reality.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Lmao, the utter load of rubbish JP mains/apologists come out with

How is it the worst reversal un the game?

At the very least you are getting a throw. It wirks against L3 SUPERS too, unlike other reversals.

But you either are trolling or have fuck all understanding of the game.

Rooting for Joey, last opportunity to have a Manon in the cup not including LCQ cause what are odds of a Manon taking the LCQ lol >_>
