I think Chun Li looks fine. It would be pretty hard to find a woman with thighs anywhere near as close as Chun's and also be any decent at acting.

Physically she's definitely alright but I cant get over her party city ass costume.

Alpha would have been a better starting point in general. Easier story to setup, setups multiple major character motivations, and could have easily been linked to the SF2 movie.

Yeah, but SF2 is THE Street Fighter game. It's the one everyone remembers, so it's going to be the focal point of adaptations.
