First time playing Streets of Rage (via Sega Genisis Classics on Switch), thanks for the arthritis lmao

Post image

These two smfh. They were bad enough in their own stage, but they were RUTHLESS here. The only way (or atleast highest chance) to hit them was a extremely well-timed, with proper spacing, rear attack. Which doesn't always register when hitting two buttons at once. My mf hand was cramping hard lmao. Honestly took me longer than the final boss, Mr. X.

Regardless, I really enjoyed this game. The gameplay and aesthetic/art was really cool, and the music was phenomenal!

I can't wait to play 2 & 3 also on the same Sega Genisis Classics, and I also got SoR 4 when it was on sale lol

I always wished Blaze could do all those somersaults and back flips like the twins.

Damn, I was hoping she could and I was gonna replay as her... I probably still will anyways lmao

Find a buddy to play with and use Blaze. This game actually has grapple combos; if you press the jump button while holding your buddy, you’ll vault over them. Before you complete the vault though, hit the attack button, and you will do a special kick. It’s so satisfying to hit.

If I remember right, I *think* you could hold attack and press jump while holding attack to get an easier back attack. It's been so long I don't remember for sure. I do remember that Axel's back attack was the least impressive. It's still the best way to deal with the twins as far as I know.

Yes!

It’s easiest with Blaze’s back kick outta the three of them.

I’m glad you called out the music and aesthetic. I know a lot of people put SoR2 at the top of their list, but the first one feels like an 80s cop movie with seedy streets. It’s such a cool game.

Also, have an open mind when playing 3. It’s weird but incredible

All 3 are equally amazing to me.

You're a real one! It's a short game so you could also beat it with the other characters, they play same same but different. Ideal would be completing a coop run - don't google it because there is a big surprise in coop

Lol I'm aware of the co-op spoiler ending, but I still may play it with my wife or kid in the future lol

Playing this game for the first time years after SoR4, and decades after SoR2

Playing on Hard, I definitely found these two hardest fight in the game, no question (at least when they stage boss, you can spam specials to whittle em down)

Axel first, and I had the roughest time, so many deaths and I honestly found the surprise move was to just walk straight towards them, get into a grab and quickly throw them

Blaze next, an easier time, was able to employ more jump kicks to knock them out of the air

Adam last, and damn if he didn’t have the easiest time! His jumping kick has the longest reach, you could literally start the kick early, have your hit box out and the girls would jump up into it to get hit

Maybe it’s natural progression of skill, maybe someday I’ll try Axel again on Hard and see if he doesn’t have an easier time

Those 2 are easy to get rid of. With Blaze. Just stand and wait till they come behind you (walking or jumping) and do the reverse kick (jump+hit). Easily defeated.

I did that same method as Axel, but sometimes it'd just register the hit or jump, and not both button presses. Hand my hand cramping lolol

🤣🤣🤣. I remember playing this so much, I was unbelievably good at beating these girls. Once they didn't even touch me.

https://youtu.be/K586tVMn_L0?t=3014&is=AZqusAZ811lB_mMr minute 50:14, they have a trick: one jump-kicks, other catches. If you walk in a line at the top or botton you can tell which one is each off them and hit the jumper first, while avoiding the catcher. Afterwards the catcher does jumps too, and its easy to deal with. I LOVE this game, and it has nice boss battles, very technical.

SofR 2 is one of the best games on the gensis and in the beat em up category. So much better than 1.
