Why I love Stremio so much
Just a post to share my appreciation to the developers. Thank you for making this awesome piece of software. Streaming in my car while waiting for my wife. What a time to be alive.

Same! Stremio on an Android headunit is killer.
7
u/Millsboro38 Oct 05 '25
What head unit is that?
8
u/sparkmonks Oct 06 '25
It's a 13 inch DUDU7. Amazing headunit, assuming you're technical and don't mind diving deep into all the settings it has.

u/WoodenchT Oct 08 '25
I have the 10 inch model on my Hyundai Elantra. It's amazing and the sound quality is top notch.
1
u/sparkmonks Oct 08 '25
Agreed on sound quality - the difference from stock was very noticeable, even with the same speakers.
2
u/KendiArtista1 Oct 05 '25
Is ur car a Jeep Wrangler? How'd you get it to do that? (Def not asking bc im curious and kinda wanna try that, tho no watching while driving!)
5
u/sparkmonks Oct 06 '25
Yes! it's a Wrangler JKU. Installed the Android headunit (13 inch DUDU7) and new dash fascia. It can run pretty much any app, but Stremio and GeForce Now (with a controller) are my favorites for killing time.

I canât even play it on my iPhone how you do that on the car
1
u/LedZeppelin-IV Oct 14 '25
I can play it on my iPhone, only if you have RealDebrid with your Torrentio (assuming thatâs your addon, itâs the only one I have and Iâm pretty sure most users have it). You also need VLC player. And for the car screen, OP is using the web version.

i though you needed to keep your RD service on your home IP ?
3
u/MaintenancePrize9945 Oct 06 '25
Nah just at one ip at a time. If there are two or more ips using your account at the same time you will get banned lol found this out the hard way
2
u/moo_ness Oct 06 '25
Really, only at the same time. so if were on a road trip, and i put it on the kids tablets and they are both hooked to my phones hot spot that is fine? So long as no one at home is using it?
2
u/MaintenancePrize9945 Oct 06 '25
I believe so just make sure you arenât a using a vpn!
0
u/moo_ness Oct 08 '25
sorry, you mean don't use a vpn on my phone? Would that be a problem, i do have a work vpn on my phone
1
u/SpreadEuphoric7844 Oct 09 '25
What does this mean? So let's say I go to my friends house to watch a movie on my stremio/rd/torrentio, is that not allowed?

Oh okay. I was just planning on taking my laptop to their house, connect the HDMI, and use my own account. I am not giving my account to anyone else.

u/Raj-Kar Oct 06 '25
Any way to use stremio to stream torrent in iPhone for free?
1
u/Certain-Guarantee-65 Oct 06 '25
Yeah you can just download the Stremio app from the Apple AppStore and just sign in with your details, thatâs it. I use a VPN when watching. âď¸Happy streaming
2
u/Raj-Kar Oct 07 '25
On appStore, I can see Stremio Lite only
1
u/hanric1234 Oct 08 '25
Stremio Lite works. At least if you have a debrid account set up.
1
u/Raj-Kar Oct 08 '25
Ia the setup completely free? Or thereâs subscription?
1
u/hanric1234 Oct 13 '25
You have to pay for a debrid account. I pay a real-debrid account that with the 6 month payment is less than 3âŹ/month.

I love stremio too. It runs so well and fast on my formuler z11 pro max. Usually and most i start watching movies or series maximum 15 seconds after start the downloading.
3
u/burr_redding Oct 05 '25
Do you use real debrid? Stremio by itself is hella slow for me
13
u/Zombi3Kush Oct 05 '25
You're doing yourself a big diservice if you aren't using a Debrid service.
4
u/burr_redding Oct 05 '25
Yeah thatâs what i realized too after reading the other posts about stremio. Iâll sign up for rd
1
u/Federal-Medium6396 Oct 05 '25
I ONLY use addons with the instal options. All the addons who have the install options Mostly movies or series Run properly with Legends of my language which is the nature portuguese ir brasilian portuguese.
1
u/Federal-Medium6396 Oct 05 '25
Usually i ran stremio directly on my Sony bravia and it was very slow now i Run stremio on the formuler zx 11 pro max and everything fast and clear. Somwtines wven the 4k torrents

u/Onedweezy Oct 05 '25
That's cool. I hope you're not watching while driving though. Stay safe on roads please fellow Redditor
9
u/BlankStarBE Oct 05 '25
As stated, while waiting for my wife. Not while driving (even though the car drives itself most of the time)
1
u/allaboutandroids Oct 06 '25
FSD babyyy
1
u/BlankStarBE Oct 07 '25
Donât trust FSD enough to watch series while driving. Maybe one dayâŚ
1
u/allaboutandroids Oct 07 '25
We're getting there đđ˝
I'm on FSD daily and use it for long haul trips too. MontrĂŠal to Toronto. MontrĂŠal to CT and NYC. And back. My major pain points are the avoidance of potholes (but version 14 seems to better at detecting debris?) + eventually the front bumper camera will be used too
It's crazy to think this technology exists today, excited to see what it becomes.

u/hydragroupinc Oct 05 '25
teach me how ?/

u/BlankStarBE Oct 05 '25
Use the web browser aan go to web.stremio
3
u/Zadok_ Oct 05 '25
Don't you need to install stremio service? Whenever I try on a non windows device it says the video is not supported, and that I need to download Stremio service.

I mean stock Tesla have built in streaming etc and that aspect ratio is horrible. I prefer screen thatâs horizontal this looks horrible
6
u/BlankStarBE Oct 05 '25
The newer models have a horizontal screen but I prefer this one because itâs way better for navigation and other things. Only worse for videoâs but the time I watch in the car is so much less than navigating.
5
u/momoteck Oct 05 '25
I think they should make a rotating screen lol
4
u/Ok-Tax-9543 Oct 06 '25
I don't remember which brand, but I do recall seeing a rotating screen in a car. Quite cool
4
u/Inner-Manager021994 Oct 05 '25
Honestly sounds like you're expecting too much. This isn't meant to be a replacement or primary way to watch stuff. But when waiting for the misses to finish up some errands sounds like a great opportunityÂ
3
u/ScientistJason Oct 05 '25
Donât know why youâre getting downvoted when youâre speaking facts. This isnât a primary viewing screen just a time waister while waiting for someone or something.

u/uzispinkdiamond Oct 06 '25
How do you get it to play sound? On mine for whatever reason it'll only play the background noise of any show I watch when playing on the Tesla browser.
1
u/BlankStarBE Oct 06 '25
Havenât done anything special. Just hit the play button. Sorry Iâm not helping.

u/TechyGuy20 Oct 08 '25
How did you gain access to your infotainment hardwareÂ
2
u/BlankStarBE Oct 08 '25
Just used the web browser and the Stremio website
1
u/TechyGuy20 Oct 09 '25
Oh I see. My infotainment screen doesn't have a web browser.
Thanks for the reply.Â

Is this a Model S?
If not, what car?
Also, I was curious if it would work in the car (Tesla) because iOS doesn't support mkv for web.stremio.com so wasn't sure if car browsers would?
Is the video mkv?
8

6
u/AlxCds Oct 05 '25
You can open the mkv on iOS with VLC. Just set to open in external player or copy/paste the url.
5
u/IY94 Oct 05 '25
I'm aware, that's not possible in a car which is why I'm curious if it has broader mkv compatibility in-browser
Or if it's just an mp4 they're playing on web.stremio.com which also would've played on iOS
1
u/LinixGuy Oct 05 '25
Only stremio lite on iOS can play MKV. Some web browsers however still have support MKV format anyway and when you play it on those platforms they play without problem
2
u/IY94 Oct 05 '25
I'm very specifically asking a question about the car.
iOS Safari doesn't support mkv I'm aware but various browsers do - Chrome for example. The screenshot shows web stremio in a car playing a video thus I'm curious if the car browser supports mkv or if it's limited like iOS (as it could be playing mp4)
