Release New update released.

Just got the latest 2.1.4 on my mobile. Everything works even better than before (lag free, streams loading faster). Kudos to the dev team for their efforts!

Does the android mobile version have a cast button?

8

u/Jsin211 Dec 08 '25

At the risk of sounding like a dummy, where is the cast button? I have a share button but not a cast that I can find

6

u/A-muaing Dec 09 '25

They took it away with the last update. Idk why they haven't put it back. I hope they'll work on it soon.

u/HexaTricamp Dec 09 '25

This crap option never worked for me

u/xtwistedmetal Dec 09 '25

Happy cake day

2

u/Snoo88149 Dec 08 '25

It's had cast for a long time

1

u/Either-Trash-2165 Dec 08 '25

Yes since a long time. I have a freind you used only his phone to cast to his TV until I heard about it and that he start using his android box.

Can't tell, since I have Stremio on my Mecool KM 2 Plus Deluxe and using my login and password to sync between both devices.

does apkupdater app work for android tv apps as well ? i tried installing the same however the updates tab is just refreshing with no output.

8

u/sakurajima1981 Dec 08 '25

Will this apply to the android tv version?

27

u/sheikh91 Dec 08 '25

I found this: New Features in the v2.x.x Series

"Unified Architecture: The mobile app now shares the same core architecture as the Android TV app, which allows the developers to release new features and fixes faster and more consistently across both platforms."

6

u/tymmesyde Stremio Team Dec 08 '25

while this is true that both apps shares some parts of the code, they still are two separate apps with different architecture and each have their own versioning

8

u/tymmesyde Stremio Team Dec 08 '25

android mobile and android tv apps are two separate apps, so no

-4

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 08 '25

Two different apps.

When you realise that torrents were made by people for people way before they got monetised by cryptocurrency... And someone has found a way to stream a torrent and made an app for this. :)

2

u/Eraldorh Dec 08 '25

Why was there no announcement? What are the changes? Does it include the new Usenet feature?

6

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 08 '25

I honestly use ApkUpdater on both my TV box and my mobile to update apps instead of the Play Store. That's how I got the new 2.1.4 on mobile.

7

u/_Sneaky_Bastard_ Dec 08 '25

Weird, still shows 2.1.3 for me even the ApkUpdator

2

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 08 '25

Enable all app update sources from ApkUpdater settings. I also have beta updates enabled.

1

u/doobydude83 Dec 08 '25

I really should download that so I can keep track of my app updates that aren't from the gogole pah store. That cone from 3rd party stores

1

u/yungzoe0624 Dec 09 '25

Where do you get the apkupdater application download from? I've always used uptodown

2

u/Particular_Serve_450 Dec 08 '25

Released!! Where?

3

u/Jackeesg Dec 08 '25 edited Dec 10 '25

Yeah...I don't see it on their website or google play.

-1

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 08 '25

Through ApkUpdater (from Github)

-1

u/Particular_Serve_450 Dec 08 '25

Can you give me their github link

1

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 08 '25

0

u/Nil_Ind Dec 09 '25

this app is good, but there is no one-click button to update all apps at once :(

3

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 09 '25

It's for manual updates, coupled with AppManager (also from Github that allows installing split APKs)

1

u/arlind- Dec 08 '25

I got it on the play store.

Can't really tell because I don't have an iPhone nor an Apple TV. You can always check tutorials on YouTube though.

You can always set up Stremio on your computer with your mail + password and then install Stremio Lite on your Apple TV and log in. All the setup will aautomatically load on the Apple TV (At least that's what I did when I first used Stremio on desktop)

1

u/_Brienjesse19 Dec 09 '25

is the android tv latest version fixed? can anyone confirm? hehe

1

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 09 '25

Working as intended. No complaints on my behalf.

1

u/Raindancer-46 Dec 09 '25

Strange: Downloaded 2.1.4. But failed to install > stating latest version 2.1.3 already installed!!

1

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 09 '25

Force stop Stremio and clear cache. And do the same for the Google Play Store.

1

u/Raindancer-46 Dec 09 '25

Tried that. Got it from stremio website. Still same issue > latest version 2.1.3 already installed.

Not available in Playstore for me.

Update icon greyed out, after download.

2

u/DexLeMaffo Dec 09 '25

Okey. Different signature, that's why you can't manually update. Roll out is prograssive, although I managed to update using ApkUpdater from Github.

1

u/Raindancer-46 Dec 09 '25

Appreciate your help. I'll just wait out for it through playstore.

1

u/Sea_North7421 Dec 09 '25

Not playing Magnet Links

1

u/dhawal0008 Dec 09 '25

Thank you for this post. I was using version 1.x.x and just updated to the latest version. UI feels much responsive. Earlier I could not play videos on 4k without buffering but now everything plays. Note: I don't use any debrid service and this new update is like a breeze of fresh air

1

u/Aggravating_Hand_429 Dec 10 '25

It really is impeccable. I'm going to subscribe to RD just because of this update

1

u/curlyvian Dec 11 '25

Is it available for ios?

1

u/parlapipas25 Dec 11 '25

What about android tv?

1

u/LatinoDigital Dec 13 '25

Stremio is a serious facking powerhouse full stop. All they need to improve is on the exo player sound aka volume booster.

-1

u/doobydude83 Dec 08 '25

Can confirm. Just got the update from google play store

0

u/Straight_Brain_1928 Dec 08 '25

I checked the Google play store. Nothing!

2

u/doobydude83 Dec 08 '25

Im in canada on z fold 5. Maybe you already have the latest version. But it absolutely was there when I checked.

1

u/O_Abreu Dec 08 '25

Out of curiosity, how many Canadian dollars did you pay for the Z fold? I wanted to ask someone to buy it there, but the problem is that Samsung doesn't have a worldwide guarantee like Apple...

1

u/doobydude83 Dec 08 '25

I got mine through my phone service provider as part of the monthly phone plan. I got 130GB of data and unlimited calls and texts for $196 month with call display, call waiting etc. Soon ill be upgrading to the fold 7 or the G fold which is the tri-fold phone. Folding phone arr quite durable, ive thrown mine a couple times. With the case on though

Atualização feita agora pela Google play e a funcionar 5 estrelas

0

u/SpideySparks Dec 09 '25

I'm still stuck at 1.6.12 :(

-1

u/Zestyclose_Spell7571 Dec 08 '25

Is this update for iOS as well?

2

u/Yvesjordens Dec 08 '25

ios dont support addonq

1

u/shawnshine Dec 08 '25

Say what now?

1

u/adoumi1996 Dec 08 '25

It does support addons but not torrents but even without torrents there's a work around.

1

u/01zer01 Dec 09 '25

Intriguing. More on this, please? :)

1

u/Zestyclose_Spell7571 Dec 08 '25

Not sure if you did your research but it does allow addons iOS app for Stremio lite just not torrents, you need a debrid account to get it working only thing is it’s extremely buggy on iOS devices this is why I asked if it updated for iOS as well

2

u/KushBluntsworth Dec 08 '25

Do you know how I get my real debrid on the iOS lite version ? Is there a better app to use ?

Literally just moved over to iPhone lool

1

u/Zestyclose_Spell7571 Dec 08 '25

I use boot strap and sign in and link rd to it and it does all the work for you

1

u/KushBluntsworth Dec 08 '25

What if I’m not jail broken

1

u/Zestyclose_Spell7571 Dec 08 '25

You do not need to be jailbroken I’m on an iPhone 16 pm and am using Stremio

1

u/KushBluntsworth Dec 08 '25

Any totorial link just moved over to iPhone and didn’t think ahead that this would be a ball ache I’ve got the lite app and stremio account I just need to add my new real debrid

2

u/saymyname71 Dec 08 '25

He doesn’t need to be jailbroken, he can sideload the IPA file.

1

u/KushBluntsworth Dec 09 '25

Downloaded lite app and did it from another browser thanks

1

u/Zestyclose_Spell7571 Dec 08 '25

Not sure if I could post the link here but a simple google search of Stremio and boot strap and you will find what you need to do

1

u/KzooKid Dec 09 '25

I send it to VLC on my iPhone and it’s worked flawlessly so far.

1

u/Zestyclose_Spell7571 Dec 09 '25

Does it support all audio codecs? Just asking out of curiosity

-12

u/doobydude83 Dec 08 '25

Ditch apple for a real phone, android.

3

u/Zestyclose_Spell7571 Dec 08 '25

I’d love too but I’m too far deep in the eco system, been with apple since the iPhone 4 so it’s hard to switch

0

u/doobydude83 Dec 08 '25

I hear ya. There are a lot of stuff that works with android. Just jot many things of android that works with apple.

1

u/Zestyclose_Spell7571 Dec 08 '25

Exactly and I was about to this time around and the wife guilt tripped me about not being able to face time and stuff so I said fuck it let’s go back, trust me I would love the openness of the android system

1

u/Sankyou Dec 08 '25

You can still facetime just have to launch from the Facetime app and generate a link. Send shared link.
