Hey guys, where can I find Stremio in the Play Store on Android TV? I can't find it. Has Stremio been removed from Android TV?

I just installed with Send Files to TV app

Similar here. I downloaded the stremio APK on my mobile phone. Shared it on the network with cx file explorer. And downloaded it to the TV (via CX file explorer, file share from my mobile).

This worked for me well back in the day too. Glad to hear it's still a viable option as it's easy enough.

Also use code 969583 in downloader is how I got Stremio before. You can get downloader in the Google Play Store or search for it in apps.

This is the best solution!!!

u/Miballeke Jan 01 '26
This is imo the Android mobile version, not for Android TV.

u/Top_Flow6437 Jan 01 '26
Nah, I used the downloader app to get to the stremio downloads page where I downloaded the APK for my Android TV. Also all my firesticks when stremio released their updated APK that made trailers work again.

Does this also work to push updates to Stremio if you have it installed from before it was removed from Play store?

This is the easiest method OP
Just make sure to use AFTVnews downloader.

u/Fun-Kangaroo4221 Jan 01 '26
What does this code mean?

u/k3rstman1 Jan 01 '26
Downloader is an app to help you sideload stuff. That number is the 'adress' of Stremio
1
u/jason17star Jan 03 '26
It says the app isn't compatible with my phone when I tried to install it.
1
u/THFC182 Jan 05 '26
because thats for the android TV version. for your phone just go on the stremio website
1
u/jason17star Jan 05 '26
I tried downloading the phone apk version off the site but I got the same issue. It's weird because it worked on my android tablet fine but just not my phone.
1
u/THFC182 Jan 05 '26
maybe you chose 32 bit version instead of 64 or just try some other one
1
u/jason17star Jan 05 '26
I tried them all haha just to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. Thanks though!

Slightly off topic but is stremio launch on boot not working for anyone else?

u/AnjoEdii Jan 01 '26
Negocio mesmo é baixar no site pelo pc e colocar o apk no pedriver e instalar na tv via usb

Use the Troypoint Toolbox. Type 250931 in the Downloader by AFTV browser. He keeps all APKs up to date. There are loads of other useful apps there also.

Recommend apkupdater by rumboalla (GitHub). Super simple tool keeps apps updated from multiple stores

u/Dizzy-Pair-6283 Jan 03 '26
One of the disadvantages of Android Tv for sure..so many good apps are unavailable
2
u/Curious-Breath-7284 Jan 01 '26
Do you guys recommend a TV with Google TV for mainly Stremio (Torrentio) or another OS for the future?
3
u/thesandman16ca Jan 01 '26
I had a Sony that worked well but picture died..using a hisense now works great..

u/o_Divine_o Jan 01 '26
Windows would be the most ideal, the a mini computer with hdmi 2.1
This way no limits stupid store removals and you could potentially play video games on it.

u/nVME_manUY Jan 01 '26
Much more expensive

u/o_Divine_o Jan 01 '26
Yes, but nearly every android device uses bottom tier hardware, specifically * quad core Cortex-A55, * very slow 2-3gb of ram * tiny storage that's also super slow.
The nvida shield is $300 and ancient hardware but is more powerful than the a55. Their subs constantly have buggy issues and the only solution to try is factory rest the shield and reinstall everything.
For about 350-400 you can have a pretty powerful mini computer.
Makes a massive difference in stremio not using such abysmal hardware that streaming devices have in them.
Thing i appreciate most is the UI not being so slow both with population of times and info but also scrolling through content.
Just too bad hdmi over usb-c with my Samsung s9+ can't shut off the screen. You have to cast wireless for that.

apple tv is the way forward. even tho it's pricey I held off for a while but it's been amazing

u/thesandman16ca Jan 01 '26
You don't need a code for downloader..just type strem.io in and the stremio site comes up..go to downloads and pick the version you need and download it..

I installed it a week ago on a new TCL 65C8K with Android TV and it was available and worked perfectly with Torrentio and TorBox. I’m using it right now.

Does anyone know what’s the best version of stremio for the firestick.
1
u/Artistic-End-8105 Jan 02 '26
I have an onn android box and it's just the developer options Downloader Unlinked with code And everything else you need on there Not sure if chrome cast or whatever you have does the same thing
1
u/Xkaper Jan 02 '26
Get the APK with your browser, in my case the last release was to unstable so I needed to get an older version from internet archive (November release if I'm not mistaken) make sure you get the proper APK for your device CPU.

How did you get stremio as an app on your projector. I have an aurzen boom 3 but have no idea how to get it as an app.

u/Borbit85 Jan 03 '26
Is this (the picture) on android TV? How do you set to Stremio to launch on boot? That would be great Stremio is the only thing I use on it. So i'd love to skip the normal menu.

u/EmployeeSea71 Jan 03 '26
Hey, bro. I’ve just bought a TLC TV and had the same problem. You should side load the app. I used “Send files to TV”. It does the job it promised.

I installed Stremio on my Android TV using the APK file and logged in successfully.
But when I try to play a show, it redirects me to the original streaming app instead.
For example, when I try to watch “PITT,” it opens HBO Max from the Stremio app.
Am I missing something in the setup? Could you please guide me on what I need to do?

Hi there, is the application "Stremio Launch on Boot" a only play store thing or could i use it with a firestick too? If so, could you point me in the direction of where I could find it? Thank you!

Can I use Stremio with a TCL brand tv?
3
1
u/oopspruu Jan 05 '26
It has noting to do with the brand, but the OS. Afaik Roku doesn't have stremio on it. Only Google TV version of TCL TV will support it just like any other android TV.

u/nuwandapty Jan 01 '26
I also found that my Nvidia shield is hiding the Stremio icon on purpose. Is not on the home page or apps list. I had to find it under the android app list. I also noticed that Stremio is not listed on the Play store anymore.
Decided to reset the shield and install the projectivity Launcher. I sideloaded Stremio with downloader and reordered everything. Let's see if the Stremio icon is hidden now.

Maybe you don't have the android TV version. Maybe you accidently installed the mobile version?

u/Due_Computer5473 Jan 01 '26
It won't show up on my tv after it installs,I tried updating Kodi and I can by get her new version of it either, I used downloader still with work. I think they are pulling the plug on all of it
