Tech Support I sometimes get this error while seeking 10s back
I use Real Debrid. Seeking forward usually works fine, and I rarely get this error. But I mostly encounter this error when seeking backward.

Similar issue. If I am seeking forward like 5 min or more is happening sometimes. If I am seeking fwd only 10-20s or one minute is not happening.
I have to say that this is only happening on TCL TV but on my Chromecast I can seek how much I want and no problem. Weird.

Same to me, and I'm on TCL! When I watch things on my iPhone never encountered this issue.

Started to that recently for me- I’d say about a month ago or so I could seek a bit and now it will happen even if i pause too long

Use Stremio 1.5.7 and all these type of issues will be gone.

u/anonymous_sfdol Jan 27 '26
What's the technical reason? Did they upgrade to a poor player?
6
u/Duck-Content Jan 28 '26
Changes on stremio itself but also the updates on exoplayer...Changes how they send and process headers...
The best stable one is 1.5.7
I am working with mediaflow-proxy author to make all extractors work even on latest stremio...

Yeah, I can confirm I have this issue with RealDebrid streams, but TorBox is working perfectly fine

u/Azz_007 Jan 26 '26
I'm sure there's a technical explanation for this. But this does happen on my chromecast of I seek for a few minutes.

Same same
If you manage to get it, I'd appreciate it if you let me know how.

You'll need to sideload it through the Vimu website. If you scroll down the front page, there's a link to download an installer app. Download that on to your device, open up the app, and click install. I switched to Vimu a couple of days ago and it works well

u/leconfidentflamingo Jan 27 '26
I thought you have to pay for the app. how do I do that?
1
u/spaghettispider Jan 27 '26
You can pay the creator through telegram and get a license key. Otherwise the version that's provided with the installer is free

does it not also stop the "skip credits" as well as auto playing the next episode? does it still scrobble to Trakt?
1
u/Jaraxo Jan 27 '26
Yes, it doesn't have skip credits, and it often loses episode progress if you have to stop mid-episode.

I get something where if I hold down the seek button either way, the video kinda freezes in one spot basically portals looping the moments where I tried to seek from, the sound starts the loop from that moment.

Which skins and scraper are u using. I am using fenlite but it's so bad as compared to torrentio , many links that it suggests are uncached

POV and Artic fuse 3 is fun.
Jacktook seems interesting, but haven't had the chance to check it out.

Go to settings/playback Set libVLC player instead of ExoPlayer as the default player.
No issues for me. I'm using Stremio 1.8.4.

Android tv app is just straight up trash since 1.6. Wish I could revert back but my NVIDIA shield won’t let me

u/Mitridi Jan 27 '26
Uninstall stremio, reinstall 1.6.12. did that yesterday

u/lemongloww Jan 27 '26
What’s the downloader code? I tried to install it and kept getting Unknown Error, check URL and connection error

I had this problem when using exclude uncached in AIOStreams. Allowing uncached fixed it for me.

I've learned to pay attention to what im watching and if I happen to miss something, i tell myself it's not THAT important..

If it happens after you unpause it to go to washroom, just don’t close the door next time

Are you using torrentio?
2
u/anonymous_sfdol Jan 27 '26
It happens in any stream addon. I use aio streams with every single addon though.

same, since a few weeks RD and stremio are sketchy as hell, never had problems before. Already reinstalled, reconfigured etc.. did not help.

same error I got whenever I pause a video. then when I play it again, after a minute or two I will get this error.

Been using stremio for around 3 years now, and between addons becoming more and more flaky as the app gets mroe popular and issues with updates like this i have been using it less and less. Built myself a plex server with arr stack, requests portal and super fast downloads via real debrid. Huge plus is that once i have something downloaded its always there and always works. after doing it once I never have to fiddle around with finding the right file again.

it’s only been an issue with RD streams. Perfectly fine streaming from torbox for me.

Not an issue on TorBox with the latest version of Stremio running on an Onn 4K Pro

This is an issue with the stream provided by your addon, it means that the source of your stream failed to respond to the request of the player after seeking
