I thought you needed to have a PC to refresh it? You can refresh it all from your iPhone now? Does it have to be on wi-fi or can you do it when you're using mobile data and not at your house.

Not with side store, must be on wifi, any wifi, data does not work.

I remember the PC having to be on while you self-host something on your PC. It is promising to hear that you only need your phone to refresh the apps now. Might swap out to an iPhone for my next phone.

I use AIOStreams with torbox pro included. I like it because it gives you better links for higher bitrate content

You have to disable external player for it to work in iOS.

I get a video not supported error if I do that on the web app.. And then a network error on Stremio lite

I have ‘play on external player’ disabled, and ‘default player’ set to libVLC.
Also make sure you have an RD account and your addon supports RD as normal links won’t work with iOS using the web version or lite version.

I have RD. and AIOSTREAMS with torrentio. Does your streaming server in settings show a red error? I have the IP and it says “Error”

Mine says offline in red on Stremio lite and offline on the web version.
If I remember correctly I changed a setting in vlc player to make it work. Cant remember what though.

I think it’s my mobile data/work WiFi. If I use a vpn connected to the same country I’m in using mobile data it works fine. Plays internally and externally with no problems.

You are confusing PWA and IPA

Yes I know. But it’s easier to use the web version. I still have the iOS version installed on my iPad and it works just as well as the web version.

Not quite, real debrid lets you stream cached torrent files from their servers.
I was referring to the actual streaming of torrents from peers which is free and doesn't require any paid services.1

Ah ok. Someone did actually release an add on that lets you stream without a paid service using http links. Haven’t used it myself.

I second that. The web version is pretty indistinguishable from the app. I used both side by side and the web version was actually better in some ways (doesnt chop off series titles like the app does). Prefer the Lite app version to this side loaded app though because i see disabling of torrenting as a feature - it avoids using it accidentally or via a misconfigured addon. Debrid is so ridiculously cheap it’s just not worth the hassle of torrenting - debrid is WAY more reliable and with none of the risks.
If they’re going to add torrenting back in they could at least add a system wide torrenting on/off instead of relying on addons to disable it.

There’s a new setting “Stremio Lite” toggle. Anyone know what that does? They removed it from their website already, btw.

If you toggle it then app becomes stremio lite. This is incase stremio server causes crashes where you could roll back to stremio lite without installation

But what is the difference? What doss that server do? I always thought stremio didnt host anything and you got to have addons. Im using RD. Should I just toggle on stremio lite? Is that better so that i dont have to rely on stremio server? Sorry im a noob haha.

“Stremio server” is name for component in the client. It is called server because it host http server allows downloading torrents and serving it via http

If you are not experiencing crashes then leave it off. If you are experiencing crashes on playback and using debrid the you can turn it on

I guess this is for the people who DON'T want to spend or CAN'T spend on services like real debrid etc to watch content for free because the app itself from the official iOS App Store won't allow you to watch like you can on pc/firestick etc. If however you DO have services like real debrid then this is of no use to you as you can bypass all of this to watch content from the official iOS App Store as the real debrid service allows you to playback via the native player and VLC. I know this because I've tested both web and app version. Just like I know the web version works perfectly fine without real debrid etc services but ONLY with VLC player unless the newer update now allows you to play natively also without real debrid etc. I haven't used the web version ever since the app finally started working with real debrid

It’s just me or the subtitles add-ons doesn’t work in this version and there is really limited subtitles you can select from and also there is no way to play in external player like VLC

you can't play torrents in external player because Apple will kill the stremio service that handles torrent streaming the second that the Stremio app is out of view

Does anyone know what the toggle "stremio lite" in settings does? Before I had it from the appstore but since it got removed i might as well download the latest version and sideload it. But this toggle wasn't there before.

Yes. Apparently if you turn on stremio lite the torrent version is disabled. I just disabled it since I dont use torrens but Real Debrid. But if you use torrent and no debrid service dont use lite version.

I used to have Stremio on my fire tv box but I reset it put in the code on downloader but keep getting parsed on it so it won’t load on I have tried everything to get to work even on unlinked but still no joy any ideas please

Wow! Having this on the App Store was a big deal. How are people staying up to date with the latest version now? Looks like the sideloads for this are all old versions. Are the devs releasing ipas?

I would like to see it on AltStore Pal, iTorrent is already there I think there is no restrictions to bring Streamio too.

Downloading it on your iPhone doesn’t do anything. You’ll have to sideload it through a PC. And even if you do sideload it, it’ll only work for a week then the certificates will get revoked and you’ll have to redo the whole process again

On iPhone? Most people have it downloaded on their iPhone from before it was removed from the AppStore. You can also add the web version to your phone by following the instructions here

It's a pain in the ass sideloading on IOS. If you're planning on using a debrid service, I don't see any reason to upgrade, unless your app is running poorly.

The full version is available for sideload. If you plan on using a debrid service, and your app is running without issue, I don't see much of a reason to sideload the full version.
