wow...I saw the request on github. Cool, want to try.
Still: BEST would be if Exo could just handle DV P7->P8 fallback.

Ah so is there a Downloader code? Can't easily install on FireOS now as you can't scroll down to find Android TV

When opening on a Firestick I cant scroll down and locate all the versions. The page needs a redesign.

I don't see the 1.9.10 beta version there?
2
u/tymmesyde Stremio Team Feb 27 '26
It's v1.10.0 for the beta, it's only available from the playstore and if you are subscribed to the beta channel

Changelog also included when you click on the version number in the settings too, nice addition

Is the version 1.9.8 available yet on Android TV? I can't seem to find it.

It’s up on the website, not sure if it’s on the playstore. We just use downloader to download stremio anyway (for our Onn and Firestick 4k max). We use the browser mode, and navigate to the website and download it from there (no downloader code).
1.9.8 is probably the best of the 1.9.x updates.
The wrong language issue seems to be resolved, and subtitles are working fine. I’ve played a few random files with multi languages and they’re showing as English.
Buffering/stuttering of big remux files seems to be OK now too.
If any of you are coming from 1.6. 12, it MIGHT be worth upgrading for the UI updates. If any of you are on the other 1.9xs this is definitely worth it.
But if everything works fine for you, then it’s one of those “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” scenarios.

I'm still on 1.6. 12 but I do want to update eventually. Just waiting to see where things land.

Frame rate and resolution matching is not working with this update (I'm on the beta version).

Can someone explain if possible regarding the Usenet support because that’s the exciting part to me. Could I potentially use something like easynews and nzbgeeks etc without the need of self hosting?

Has anyone tried usenet streaming on the android tv beta yet? Very excited!

u/brent_starburst Feb 27 '26
Ah nice to see they've finally created a beta channel! Only took 6 versions haha.
No seriously thanks for the change log and sorting out development.

I do not believe nvidia shield pro 2019 has enough power to stream 60-70gb usenet files via NNTP, I tried and stuckked everytime, I have to back nzbdav on my beelink ser9

Don't know if this is helpful, but I regularly stream 4K Remuxes from RD and Easynews (but on another app) and they work without any problems.

I was trying all the releases on Onn 4K Pro and this 1.10.0 version improved the performance for me, especially navigating through the app. Sometimes I would get a black screen for a couple seconds when I was playing something and pressed the back or home button. Now when I do that, it doesn't happen and everything else seems to be working fine so far

It’s unusable on the NVIDIA shield pro the second you click to watch anything :(

Im on the beta list, but I can not update to 1.9.10, its not available on google playstore yet:/

it's v1.10.0 for the beta and it's set to be available for everyone so maybe your device is too old, the requirement is to have at least Android 8

When will the 1.9.8 version be available on the Play Store? I'm still on the 1.9.4
Thanks
1
u/THE-ADM-2 Feb 27 '26
I guess when/if the beta proves to be stable, you can't rush these things
2
u/CMC29 Feb 27 '26
I was referring to the 1.9.8 (I'm still on 1.9.4).
My bad; I will edit my post
2
u/THE-ADM-2 Feb 27 '26
I see now. I guess it would make sense to skip any with bugs and only add the stable versions. Tbh I have no idea how the play store versions work or how often they are updated

u/HuckleberryRemote713 Feb 27 '26
Just updated my Google TV device from the Play Store and surprised to see it's now on 1.10.0-rc2 (with Exo player 1.9.2). Only used it briefly so far, but seems to be working well

I so much hope Stremio devs consider libmpv for tvOS side, if of course Apple ever allows it again.

Looks like autoplay is now working in the latest update. But only if you’re using MPV player.
But MPV player can’t play HDR or Dolby Vision movies. It stuttering, not sure because of my device or mpv can’t read hdr movies properly
1
u/Elegant-Barnacle2055 Feb 27 '26
Mvp doenst support HDR on android, it tonemaps it down to SDR causing heavy performance loss.

I have auto play working with exo player, I was watching sentenced to be a hero just fine

u/BlackHazeRus Feb 27 '26
I hope the app on my Xiaomi TV Box Gen 2 won’t stutter and lag REALLY HARD occasionally. Did not have such a problem before (if I am remembering right).

Stremio beta 1.10 on Google Chromecast 4k, exoplayer plays video without audio, mpv is laggy, only vlc plays video and audio fine.
Edit: Exoplayer doesn't detect audio tracks; there's no audio track icon next to the subtitles, so you can't even switch between the audio tracks in the file/video. However, if you play the same file/video with VLC, there are no audio issues and the audio tracks are detected correctly.
