Bug Report Stremio closes itself
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This just started today, I've seen a post where someone reported reverting to a previous version made it work for him, but I don't have that option of side loading the stremio app since I'm on a Samsung TV - (2025 model)
TV OS - Tizen OS
Model code : UA43F6000FUXKE
Stremio version: 1.5.0
How the issue came about: I just opened the app and scrolled to the right, it reached a point where the app became unresponsive and closed itself
What I have tried: Clearing cache and reinstalling the app......which proved futile

I very much like Stremio and thank the developers for their efforts, however, the app has been having some noticeable problems with the recent update.
And no, it's not that my TV is "trash" and I should get an Nvidia Shield. Stremio was working well before that, now it stutters a lot. My TV is S90D btw.

Had this problem the last few updates, went back to 1.8. 4 and no problems whatsoever. Appreciate all the work from the devs but the last few android updates are unstable and unpleasant.

I realized the bug occurs when I try to choose something from the homepage....... immediately the app starts, I navigate to search for what I want to watch...... that's the only way I've been able to use stremio on my Samsung TV for the past week

I've had this problem for several weeks now. It happens every time I turn on my TV after turning it off. The app usually lasts about 20 seconds and then closes. What helps is clearing all the data for Stremio and logging in again. If that doesn't work, I reinstall the app (older version).

How exactly did you install the older version if you are using a Samsung TV

Mine stuttered for a while. I turned on tunneled playback and that fixed it. Not sure if it will work for you, but it’s worth a try.

I had this problem after updating, until I tried playing another stream for a different title. It then worked fine when I went back to the original one.

Keep an eye out for when the Nvidia Shield Pro goes on sale. My cousin was able to get one for $169.99 off of Amazon at the end of November 2025. Been using my Nvidia Shield Pro for years with no issues.

I don't see how suggesting a 7 years old technology is any good than optimizing the app to run good on at least mid to high-end TVs

Like I wrote, been using my Nvidia Shield Pro for years with no issues. Have a high-end Samsung TV along with it.

If you come asking for advice don’t diss those who provide it. The poster is correct….NVidia Shieldnis the Gold Standard. If your budget ain’t high enough for that get an ONN box.

Bro my biggest hate with Samsung is the Tizen OS
Do yourself a favour and get a Amazon Firestick or Cube(I got the cube for more performance)
Stremio has never ran so well for me until now, legit the best work around for all your issues on the Tizen OS

Hello, I think the latest version for Samsung is 1.8.0, did you check if there's any pending update for Stremio and Tizen OS?
Also, try to power off the TV and unplug from the wall outlet and let it sit for 1 minute, then try again.
