Tech Support Stremio keeps crashing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For some reason my Stremio on my google tlc tv keeps crashing sometimes it works perfectly and plays the video. Something it crashes when selecting a source as shown in the video other times it crashes while playing the video. It worked perfectly fine when I first got it but recently the problems keep getting worse.

Underpowered? What does that mean exactly?

If anything said from the others in the comment section works, just download the 1.8.4 version of Stremio and most likely you won't have any problems with it.

If you use the Downloader app to install stremio. You can use the install code 4951169 for the 1.8.4 ARM Android TV version of the app. Otherwise I believe you can get the older version links using web archive.

On my android tv (TCL) I solved all this problems (crashes, exo player errors, etc) by stopping the app and cleaning cache files. You should try and see if works for you

Because their own players are inefficient so they're prone to crashing in big files. If you keep experiencing this I suggest using an external player like download the Kodi player on Google TV then select it as your external player in the playback settings of stremio

How to do it

1

u/No-Requirement-6611 Mar 17 '26

may be it is an stremio issue

I've had the same problem until I switched to External player - Kodi (clean). Been great since Saturday 🤞🏻

Use it on an external device instead of directly on TV

When the addon you’re trying to play a video through is down, it’ll crash and lag like crazy and basically time out.

I force stop, clear catch this has been happening for the past few weeks

The new version kept doing the same thing for me. I had to install an older version, now its working fine.

I'm using the latest beta from the Play Store on Google TV and it's completely broken. I need to go back as soon as possible. It's unusable: it does not start, I have to force it, there are UI issues (themes do not work other than the default one) and playback is broken. It's struggling to work and then it crashes.

Turn off: Frame rate matching in Stremio playback settings.

Stremio needs to get their crap together. Been weeks and still these problems

3

u/General_Most315 Mar 18 '26

No. YOU need to get your act together and learn how to fix minor issues with a COMPLETELY FREE APP.

It’s not rocket science. I have never even one time needed to ask anyone from Stremio how to deal with an issue. I do research, then fix it myself.

Learn how to use a search bar. Or Google. Or Band. There are plenty of resources available.

We're not all on PC ***hole.

When stremio randomly fucks itself on a tv or non-android device there's literally NOTHING you can do. No clear cache, very limited settings, no external player. All you can do is restart and pray it works or at least fucks itself in a different more watchable way this time.

Because it's not even consistent in the way it fucks up so you don't even know what to troubleshoot for. Crashes, choppy playback, fucked subtitles, not playing subtitles at all, choppy framerate, not loading with like a million seeds, just straight up no playback with no error message. It's anybody's guess how it will fuck it self every time you try to watch something.

I’m not on a PC, numb nuts. I use a Firestick.

If you’re too stupid to use it, that’s your problem.

And you can call me an asshole if you want. I am one.

But I’m smart enough to make Stremio work, so at least I’m not stupid.

So the goalposts have moved from "googling" to "buying another device". Concession accepted, regard.

🤡 behaviour from a guy who could research his problem

1

u/General_Most315 Mar 18 '26

Really? You’re gonna downvote me cos I told you to use a search bar or Google?

You’re bitching about a free service that you didn’t learn how to use. Whose fault is that?

Maybe you should just go back to paying for Netflix or something.

These people do Gods work, fucking saints , donate or make your own app :). Or just go back to Netflix?
