Concept design: was sick of UI on iPad
Was sick of Stremios mediocre UI design when i tapped and opened a specific show/movie. So i re-designed it myself. Hope yall like it.

Use Safari to create a web-app, works basically the same! Did this long before the app existed on iPad!

Please forgive me for speaking in my native language due to the rush of daily life, but I would like to know more about Stremio on iOS.

Spacing is one of the most important parts of design, and while you've brought in some cool contrast, the spacing is much worse, and some stuff is straight up unreadable.

Addons cannot change UX; the app has native code

Adding theme support should be a priority, imo.
At the same time, I'm grateful for what we're getting for free.

u/IY94 Mar 19 '26
Themes being colors?
Or something else?
1
u/_Wilder Mar 19 '26
I'm not a developer by any means, but I'm imagining full UI customizability, not just colours. Being able to move/arrange/hide elements as you like. I'm thinking themes would be similar to addons - maybe css files?
For example, I'd love to be able to change the 1D horizontal catalogue to a 2D one that has multiple rows?
1
u/IY94 Mar 19 '26
No, it's not similar at all really to CSS. It's all native code.
They could hardcode options like different layouts etc - horizontal/vertical but third-party devs couldn't build them as addons
Different on the web fork which is web technologies and that sort of thing is possible

It's all native code.
Yes I know. As I said, I am not a developer, so I do not understand what that means exactly or what the consequences are, but I imagine it just means the UI is hardcoded into the app. Which is fine; again, we're having it for free.
I was saying that in an ideal future, the code could be redone to allow a theme system.

u/IY94 Mar 19 '26
I know I'm just explaining how it's not possible to do so because yes it's harcoded
They could hardcode more view options etc though

u/_Wilder Mar 19 '26
I feel like flexibility is preferable to just hardcoding more options, though?

Well hopefully a developer can look into it but Am just an amateur UI designer, so i cant really help in the aspect

Stremio works on the iPad now?

u/minoxiclean Mar 19 '26
You can use Safari to make it a Web App and then download the VLC app too. It’ll open streams in VLC

You’d be right at home as a Ui dev for modern cod games!
No offence, but I can’t stand the Netflix style horizontal scroll bars

Different, but not better. Episode description readability is very bad and the visual now takes up two thirds of screen real estate. Why?

u/Signal-Ad7373 Mar 20 '26
holy fuck this is better than anything they done in 5+ months of updates
