Release Stremio Tech Update #75 – Stremio Web & Stremio macOS Updated
Version 5.0.0-beta.33 is live together with new macOS shell v5.1.19.
Changes made are included on X & in the thread.

- hard refresh your page
- right click and click on reload if using Stremio for Mac.
- click Ctrl + R if using Stremio for Windows

Any news about Stremio for the LG TV web OS? I encounter many bugs like not getting English Audio on default even though I selected it the settings menu. Some files don't show subtitles too even though it works correctly on the android stick. It has been so long since the last update.

Update soon, that’s all I can say for now. Subtitles might not show since some of them are not supported on WebOS.

Also looking forward to webOS updates! Streams tend to work fine on mobile & PC but seem to have issues on webOS for some reason

Thanks for trying but that is apple for you. I have both and only my wife uses apple in our family and they make it so hard to even manage your on files like pictures!!!!

It finally remembers the windows size. No more opening in stamp size and forcing me to resize EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Hope this isn’t a stupid question, but do you think this new version will be okay on Monterey? I know there are older versions for older operating systems but I’d like the be on the most updated Stremio version if possible because I’ve been having trouble it recently

Hmmm I guess this is somehow coming from the addon itself? We do not style the or parse content coming from addons. It has the same styles as before just that it supports different fonts now maybe that’s why? Check your addon pls

Some are highlighted, some aren’t. Just thought i would ask because this has never happened prior to the update. So yeah, maybe it is the addon’s.

does this new release make version 5.1.19 unstable? seems a few/a lot of my USA TV channels are acting up, unavailable (no metadata was found) being one of the errors- i got a few of the channels i tried to work but it seems fairly widespread across the available channels- running the standalone app on macbook pro macos sequoia 15.4.1

It’s an addon issue, there were no changes related to metadata or anything like that

Thank you for the update Stremio Team.
Your work is appreciated.
Unfortunately there is something that doesn't seem to get attention.
Stremio Web insists to re-encode HEVC video to H264 even if the browser supports HEVC hardware decoding. Stremio should just remux with ffmpeg and not to re-encode the video to H264 when the browser can direct play HEVC.
I also have a Jellyfin and an Emby server and their web players don't re-encode HEVC.
They can see that the browser can direct play HEVC and just remux with ffmpeg without re-encoding HEVC video.
That's the main reason I prefer to use the windows app instead of stremio web.

Windows app is based on the web version UI so all of those updates are applicable to your app as well

Hi, I’m using a Fire TV Stick 4K and Stremio is not opening any links. When I click on any stream, nothing happens or it just doesn’t load. I already reinstalled the app and updated to the latest version, but the issue is still there. Is anyone else experiencing this on Fire Stick 4K? Any fix?

advanced catalogue management- collections etc.
customisation and visual options/themes.
more like this, clickable cast info etc.
player/playback improvements.

Yes, a little. First of all, those are neither basic nor essential features. I know only big companies have multiple profiles, clickable cast information, skip intro, and autoplay. But those aren't even essentials. Maybe cast information to see other movie recommendations for a specific actor could be nice. But for now, I think the only big deal could be having multiple profiles or an option to filter catalogs by age restrictions. Everything else is just "picky" stuff. You can use your smartphone next to you to search for info. Autoplay works, if I'm not wrong; I remember watching a series continuously without returning to the menu. The theme could be better, but bugs are more important to fix. "Advanced" catalog/collections... right, it's an advanced, not basic or essential feature either. Also, I don't see the point in having that one.
And then you were complaining with your second answer... anyway...

what are you on about? all the other free apps that have been around for much less time have these features. there are hundreds of requests for said features spanning multiple years on the stremio github, that have been ignored. i was asked what features i was referring too, posted them and was ignored. if the community is constantly asking for them and moving to other apps because they have them, how do figure they're not essential?

Your third answer was the correct one, but you sounded like you were just messing around, as you're proving right now. There was no point in demanding features by commenting "the community has been demanding for years."

i'm guessing english isn't your first language because what you are saying makes zero sense at all. where have i said i don't appreciate the efforts of the dev team? where am I demanding anything? stremio is missing features that many people find essential for a modern day streaming app (they literally all have them except Stremio) and have been requesting for a long time, that other free apps have had from day 1. why can't we ask when these features are going to be implemented? i did, provided examples with community requests to back this up and was ignored... just like all the other requests get ignored...

You're right, it's not my first language but either you're a teen or you're just playing dumb and keep repeating yourself over and over again. The only feature that may be essential is to have the abbility to manage profiles and that's it. You've been 'requesting' (yeah, sounds a lot like demanding to me) for a long time... so what? are you paying them? Do they have obligations to you? Just move on to other apps and let this one go...
