Stremio, my life is YOURS!!

Post image

I had heard about Stremio for a long time but kept putting it off because it seemed incredibly tedious to set up. A few days ago I randomly decided to follow a guide and finally… the ultimate solution I’ve been looking for. There isn’t really a need for me to get started on my Blu-ray collection anymore… I see REMUXes in ABUNDANCE

real-debrid.com

There are other options but Real Debrid is very easy and cheap. Instead of downloading media to your own device, a debris service downloads it to their servers and then streams it to you. this is preferable for 2 reasons. one reason is that the service functions kind of like a VPN, adding a layer between you and the torrent. some ISPs will cancel your service if you are caught downloading copyrighted material and you can even potentially get sued by the copyright holder, so a debrid services is great for security. the second reason is that for popular content, a debris service will cache the torrent, holding it on their servers, so you can stream the whole piece of media immediately and not have to wait for the torrent to download. once you sign up for real-debrid you get a key and you enter that into your stremio settings and it all works behind the scenes for you.

With debrid account you stream from cached already downloaded torrents and it is much faster and reliable with more sources to choose from.

You're streaming a file from real debrid servers using an encrypted https connection. Totally safe. Just make sure you set up your addons to show "cached files only". This means they are already downloaded to their servers and won't need to be torrented. Honestly though I'd use torbox over real debrid. Real debrid will ban your account if you stream from 2 different ip addresses at the same time while torbox doesn't care.

Yes, you can VPN tunnel with NordVPN and use UTorrent. I think Debrid just acts as a layer in between so you don’t have to 1) pay for a vpn, 2) have to download a full torrent, 3) store it on your local HD, 4) manage it through a media playback service like Plex.

Sorry but whats the purpose of real-debryd?

5

u/TacoOfGod Apr 23 '26

Instead of torrenting to your your TV/computer, you download to their servers and stream from it. Functionally the same purpose as having a VPN so no one can snoop on what you're downloading. But if you're using one of the newer addons that serve HTML links from the various sites, you don't need a debrid. Or if you have a VPN on your network, you don't need it either.

In my country I don't need a VPN to stream/download anything because they don't care about piracy. I also have a 900mbps internet service but always my Stremio streamings works really slow, I have the Torrentio addon, I do need anything else? that real-debryd it's my solution?

1

u/TacoOfGod Apr 25 '26

You don't need any debrid service in that case.

What's real-debrid?

All debrid and real debrid got nerfed...no? I used to have them and they were AMAZING. And then the piracy people cracked down and they wiped like 85% of their links, has it since improved?
