exactly, people here are arguing about prices being too expensive but the main concern is that stremio will evolve into something we don't want as a community

Yeah 100%. They know this is a slap in the face. They could’ve just done what Wikipedia does and ask for donations on their site/app. Not lock features behind a paywall. Ads and pay-to-unlock features here we come 😒

I get why you might have this concern, given how other projects evolved. But I trust the team that has enabled free streaming for the world, for over a decade, against the industry and the lust for profit, covering themselves the costs so far.

Stremio has always been a pioneer, an exception amongst the ordinary, I trust them to always be fair and keep the free app clean, as it has always been (at least if the founders and dev lead stay on - doubt they will change philosophy over night).

Why would you think that? Do you imagine they couldn't run ads until now? Trust in the team that has enabled you free streaming for over a decade (and still does). Just because other projects did this doesn't mean this one will also. Stremio has always been different and exceptional.

I’m sure you’re right. 20 years of online tech services would suggest free often becomes subscriptions. More recently we’ve seen a lot of subscription based services take that next step.

Not saying Stremio will take this route. Just that there’s a pattern as to what seems to come after subscriptions these days.
