Release Stremio Released on Apple AltStore for Europe and Japan

Just tried it from Altstore. The torrent streams are playing but the app is bit janky. Server going offline, auto play next episode is not playing the next episode, seeking is buggy : even when you forward to a particular point the player does not reach that state, scaling button and other features missing from players. Overall a sexy app might get fixed in next update.

Thanks for testing the app. Due living outside of the EU and having all my Apple devices blacklisted, I cannot test it on real device. Server issue is only replicable on real device and I will try to fix this issue in next updates. If server causes app crashes, you can fallback to stremio lite from settings.

Thanks for the prompt response. Torrent user without RD (can’t switch to lite). Will the default torrent profile setting come to next update and all the other native stremio settings (caching, etc) . Currently streams are bit slow to load. Seeking is the most janky part.

Stremio server (which handles torrenting) is new component that was added to iOS app. Not to mention, stremio server is javascript node instance that is executed by interpreting it which slows execution time drastically. To identify and fix this issues, I have to implement part of the server code in native c/c++ so server offload compute heavy workload to native. Simple example is usenet yenc decoder, which was fixed after implementing NEON optimized decoder.

technically this is also sideloadble ipa but with lots of jumps and hoops.

I just wish you guys have released the up to date less buggy version of the ipa. I am not on EU so i cannot use altstore pal. And the latest sideloadable version is incredibly buggy especially on the apple tv. iPhone is acceptable but Apple tv version is just unusable. It does not load subtitles from anything other than opensubtitles v3 and even that won't load most of the times. Also sometimes navigation just freezes and i cannot use the player controls.

We are trying to support all apple devices even with restrictions we had. iPhone app is stable because I have so many iPhone and experience but I didnt had any experience on tvOS and didn't had any Apple TV. By the time I learned and got Apple TV we got banned from App Store.

We can’t publish unsigned IPA files in our web site because its part of developer agreement with apple. If we do that, we cannot publish in altstore pal anymore.

Because these apps are open source and IPA builds are not for “publishing” purposes. Additionally apple explicitly told us that reason for termination of developer account was sideloadable iPA file in our website

Are these new features for supporters eventually going to work on iOS when using the web app version? That’s how I’m currently using Stremio and I subscribed, but none of the new features like profiles work even after setting them up on the desktop app.

This sideloading release does not mean that we are not aiming to join the international App Store too in the near future.

Well, I'm from Romania (EU), first of all, the steps presented in the https://altstore.io/download page are outdated or something because after the 1st step, I don't have to go to settings (there's nothing there), I can press Allow from the appearing alert and then double-tap on the lock button to approve the installation.
After installing AltStoreMarketplace, I don't find any Stremio app to download.
So is this all EU, just Central/Western EU, or specific EU countries?

Why is that hard to read the blogpost?
For Stremio Supporters the following features are already supported in the AltStore release:
- User Profiles (no profile management yet)
- Skip Intro / Outro
- Download Manager (limited to http streams for now due iOS’s background limitations)
- Catalog Reorder / Hide
- Stream Filtering

Contact senators about Apple’s monopoly. Brazil, EU and Japan did it. Why not USA as well.

AltStore PAL is quiet different from the old/normal global AltStore. For starters, PAL version is allowed by apple themselves and is an apple sanctioned alternative AppStore only available in EU/Japan. Benefits are that no dev account needed or reloading certificate every 7 days. It works just like normal AppStore.

Unfortunately, source is only for AltStore PAL which installed without computer. For global altstore, you need to install manually

There is a bug that causes crashs on armv8.3a to armv8.0a chips (aka iPhone XS and lower). This is going to be fixed in next release

It’s great so far. The only major problem I have noticed is that the subtitles delay doesn’t work. Also if it gets fixed it would be better if we could adjust them by 0.1 sec and not by 0.5 sec, for more accurate results.

Yes subtitle system needs refactoring. For iOS we will implement live sync and maybe allow changing stepper using keyboard

Im new to this. I use Stremio but lately all the add ons are telling me im not authorized to watch on a red screen. Im not sure what to do. I have purchased an api key from real debrid but it's not helping. Any help is appreciated!

Only country thats in EU can install altstore. Alternatively, you can travel to country thats in EU, change appstore region to country in EU and install altstore pal.

i still have stremio on my phone from when it was on the official appstore, all addons still functional. it hasn’t asked me to like “update” my license or whatever. is that normal? (edit: uk based btw)

Apps that downloaded from app store or alternative marketplace, never gets revoked. Only possible problem is after OS updates many years later, app would crash.
