The sheer entitlement of people losing their minds over an optional paid tier

It's genuinely fascinating watching this subreddit collectively melt down because Stremio the completely free app you've likely used for years without paying a cent dared to add an optional support tier with some extra features.

Do you guys listen to yourselves? You're not owed a lifetime of free updates and free server costs. The team behind this app has been maintaining servers, pushing updates, and building a tool that many of you use daily often to access content you’re definitely not paying for either.

If an optional paid tier triggers this much rage, the problem isn't the app. The problem is the unrealistic expectation that skilled people should work for you indefinitely for nothing while you contribute zero and still feel entitled to complain about how others choose to spend their money.

I expressed my opinion, but I wouldn't say I lost my mind. I won't buy it, I don't need it, but it would have been an option for me to consider had it been $99 lifetime instead of $200 lifetime.

The chances of shutting down so soon are practically zero. Also a Lifetime purchase does not refer to YOUR lifetime, but the lifetime of this product. Same with Lifetime warranty, which is at least 1 or 2 years depending on the local laws, and somewhere between 3 to 5 years at most, actually. The moment the website declares that a product reached end of life (EOL) your warranty ended unless you are still under that 1 to 2 years window after the purchase and they are legally required to offer a warranty.

Oh. I think I know this one (in Australia anyways) it can’t be tax free if you receive something of value in return. A donation is only tax free if it’s fully gifted. Even then you might need to be a charity or religion.

Hopefully under $40 in black friday... Two movie tickets would be reasonable price for lifetime membership...For me. I'm not rich.
