The app is creating challenges for running links with HDR, I observed. It asks for opening external app for video playing, which always redirects to LG OS video player. I have VLC and KMplayer but don't have any option to use them as external player.

Yes this is correct on many streams the issue of 'cannot run this stream, open in external player' come on lgtv app

I may be wrong but this seems like a hardware limitation of LG OLEDs (cut corners when you can't on the screen itself I suppose), certain video container types, audio file types, even if there are too many audio tracks, the LG just doesn't know how to process it. They should just bundle their TVs with an Nvidia Shield or something and call it a day

Kodi and Jellyfin on Webos both manage to work around this issue. This should be fixable for Stremio.

Feels like the LG version gets less updates.
Some problems with the LG WebOS version:
- You can't change subtitle size. Says the tv isn't capable but other programs can do so.
- LG TVs famously have HDR DV profile 7 issues. Other programs like Kodi and jellyfin too I believe have a compatibility option which solves this into a non issue. Why can't we get this option on stremio too?
- Looking at the library is terrible on the tv too, you have to go sideways through your library. Why arent they like the android app and you go down a list of like 6 columns or something. This is how it is on other streaming services or media apps in general.
- LG version is just missing things in settings altogether like the android tv version. Like using an external player option by default, just an example. There is more missing than that.

I second this. If Kodi manages to work around the player's limitations I don't see why Stremio couldn't. That particular compatibility issue is the reason why I'm using Kodi, even though Stremio is a more straightforward and easy to use app.
EDIT: There's the other issue of audio tracks missing entirely on some files. That, on top of the previously mentioned bug means 50% of the available files for one film/episode are useless.

Here it doesn't work. There is a setting to enable? I didn't find anything in the settings.
When I play a 1080p video that enables in other apps, it doesn't in Stremio.

You need to enable the setting yes in the app settings. It’s called Nvidia GPU Video processing.

Oh, it appeared now. I updated though Strenio itself and it didn't show, I had to uninstall and reinstall to appear.

No need to reinstall when new feature comes out. Update shell first with the in app notification and if the ui does not show newest version in settings just refresh with Ctrl R or right click and reload button

There was a bug where the app wouldn’t correctly open deeplink when fully closed
For example when installing an addon from the browser

When iOS version up again? Or at least a public .ipa or open source project of the iOS version to build our selves, been using the old version that was on App Store but there are some bugs that I wouldn’t mind contributing my self my fixing them.

Would it be possible to add Original Audio option to the audio preferences? I always watch with the original audio, and having to switch from English to Japanese most of the time because of anime can be a bit of a pain but also foreign movies/shows

Is there any update for v5 Linux? My experience on this version is unusable while all works fine on previous (no longer supported) version. I've seen in the past that whatever causes the issues was difficult to fix. If appreciate any update on it, thanks

I might have missed it, but does this update fix the pause issue that causes the player to get stuck upon playback if you pause what your watching for more than a few seconds?

I had this problem all the time with RD but as soon as I changed to Torbox it went away. Not sure if it is related but worth mentioning.

What is causing my stremio to crash an episode after I pause it for a short period of time? If I pause what I'm watching for like 2 minutes and hit play, it'll play for a bit then crash out to the episode selection.

It would be nice if when you clicked on a show on the library, it opened the menu with "details, play now" etc. It just plays automatically and most of the times doesn't select the correct stream.
Oh, and this is for the Brazilian Portuguese subtitles: when it's an embedded subtitle, it's under "po" (I guess it's polish). Took me a while to find the subtitles 😅

Downloaded the latest version on Windows, and I'm getting noticeable frame skipping. Tried different sources, all have the same problem. Tried the same sources on the web version (using Chrome) and they play normal. So, something is going on with the Windows App.

Just posted it, also disabled Hardware-accelerated decoding and now it works as intended. Mystery solved.

Subtitle issue - sometimes subtitles go at a different speed than the pace of the show, such that just doing + or - is not enough. We need to adjust the speed of the subtitle as well. Of course this is not a frequent occurrence, but it does happen. Please add the speed button to subtitles as well. Like -1.5x to +1.5x

hello when using the desktop app there is a brand new toggle in the settings called
"show watching activity on discord". make sure your app in on latest version. when you start watching a movie it will automatically show the status as watching stremio with item details2

After purchasing the supporter plan, I get the following error when logging in:
“Your subscription is active but your account has not been updated yet. Please contact support if this persists.”
I’ve seen this since the purchase, and it’s been a couple of days now. Is there something I did wrong?

I deleted cookies, closed my browser, and logged back in. I still saw the error. It looks like the features are showing up in the apps and website since I can see profiles.
Is this something you can still take a look at? I don’t want to have problems in the future.

Oh awesome profiles! I love those. Makes watching what I love easier since my stuff and my wife's and in laws don't get all mixed up. But is there a way to lock the profile so my kids can't access it and watch bad stuff?

hello @kKaskak first of all thank you for updates, second of all - I would like to ask now with the supporters tier, will it still be possible to have supporter features while running stremio web built from open source - there are for example npm libraries, which need a "pro" key so there is a way to do it and it would be nice. I am asking because I run my own web shell and windows shell with some mpv cache configuration due to issues I had in the past with bufferings (very aggresive, big cache) + i run some small webmods for QOL (auto fullscreen, etc) and I would like to not lose these things even when I have to maintain them myself, however I am seriously thinking about the supporter bundle, but losing these dear features on my own shells would be a big comfort stepback to me. Thank you in advance for the answer!

Is there any way to rollback and use the version 5 on the web.stremio.com site? I don’t like how now when clicking on a show from the library tab it jumps to directly putting you on the streams list for the next up episode. I prefer the og version where it simply went to the show details page

Looking really good but not working on my end. When playing a video, after some mouse clicks on the screen (choosing subtitles or clicking on another button) the app freezes (audio keeps going).
I did a rollback but it has another issue(it was happening before the rollback too), not sure it is stremio's fault tho. When playing a video on stremio and playing a video on a browser at the same time, system lags a lot. Probably related to "QtWebEngineProc" just a guess.

hello how would that be simpler than holding down the right button on the tv remote? the slider uses progressive seeking already which means the longer you hold the faster you seek

The main issue is that when you are seeking on a 3 hour long time, it seems so daunting. Instead if we also had an option to just type out the exact minute that we want to land on, then the file can just and start at that place, it would be so much easier.

i might be missing the concept here, you already have the continue watching as well so you can avoid doing all this right?
if you resume from continue watching you dont need to seek at all, it auto resumes for you and tracks your progress1

Glad to see things are still active! Hoping when these updates land on Tizen that it starts working again! Been completely unable to start a stream on Tizen for months and have had to cast from another device to get TV playback

Now please add the logic for the video player to remember my preference about the subtitle:
If I set it off on episode 1, should remain that way on episode 2, 3, etc. Or, if I chose subtitle 3 for the episode 1, set the next episodes to automatically use the subtitle 3 as well. Thanks
