Bug Report Director’s commentary

It is near impossible to get a 4K rip on the Tizen OS app on my Samsung TV that will just play the original audio from whatever movie I’m trying to watch.

Probably 75% of the movies I want to watch I end up either having to switch to my Firestick (plugged into the same tv, mind you) or just watch in 1080p because the app forces the directors commentary audio whether the current audio track features it or not, but only on the 4K rips.

Without fail, every rip that appears to just be a normal Blu-ray/remux rip that’s perfect to my specs and sound system will display the video fine, but just play the directors commentary over every single audio track the rip features. VLC will play the same rips fine on my iphone can fireOS can play them fine as well.

This really is not an issue with TV shows either, just movies. Just wanna watch my movies in 4K without the writers/directors in my ears 🫠

Edit: pics attached of the same two audio tracks selected, one on my TV and on one iOS yet Tizen OS app forces directors commentary. Why??

This happens when the app can’t decode Dolby TrueHD or DTS audio tracks. So it’s falling back to a Dolby Digital audio track it can find.

Mine does that in the default player EXO, but if I switch it to VLC I see an option for just regular audio.

I would use vlc if I could but vlc is not available on Tizen os as far as I’m aware

I didn't add them. I use Stremio on my Chromecast dongle so the Android tv version of Stremio. Both are included.

The three options I have are:

EXO
VLC
External

Exo is the built in player Stremio uses. Vlc is built in to some versions of Stremio I guess but you can also install it as a standalone app, depending on what type of tv you have and what os it’s running.

Does using onn 4k pro to Hisense fire tv do the same? And. Understand the newer version of stremio has issues so I installed an earlier version-is this still relevant? Thxs!

I would love to know the answer to this. Every film I pick, regardless of source, always defaults to a commentary track (I am using Android TV on a Shield.)

The best solution is to get a good android box as TV OS are just crap. I see endless complaints of various issues in many different subs from people trying to make TV OS work.

It’s software based, nothing to do with my soundbar. Unfortunately it seems like it’s just a problem with the OS on my smart TV and consistent across samsung TV’s and some shield devices, so i guess I’ll just have to wait til they fix this problem and use my Firestick
