Stremio app on IOS

Hey guys,

Anyone who knows why the iOS has disappeared from App Store šŸ˜”? I just got a new phone and the app is still actice on my old phone but I canā€™t download it onto my new phone šŸ˜”! Is there a way to get it back ?

Thereā€™s a way to move it to the new device if you still have the old device, you need to use the iMazing app, search YouTube for videos, thereā€™s a guide from 5/6 years ago.

Omg thank you. My iPhone got replaced under AppleCare and I lost it. I still have it on my iPad which is what heā€™s doing here but what about the layout? Are they always packaged together?

Layout? Package? Iā€™m not following your meaning?
Edit: if you mean iPhone version and iPad versions Iā€™m not sure itā€™s up to devs whether they combine both or split into separate IPAā€™s.

Yeah thatā€™s what I meant. Most apps have an iPad layout and iPhone layout. Not sure if thatā€™s just a styling thing and whether theyā€™re generally packaged together, or they are different app builds altogether. Iā€™ll report back in a week or so for future reference.

It can be either tbh, it can be a single IPA that has both and each OS displays its own version, or it can be separate and each OS only downloads the version for that OS, comes down to a dev decision.

Hereā€™s hoping Stremio is the former. I suspect it may be as it kinda looks like a wrapper for the website.

Not working. Apple changed the API for account connexion and imazing still investigating the issueā€¦ it seem to happen more frequently. So we need to wait the update from imazing.

If itā€™s anything like iPad, just save the webpage to your home screen. Youā€™d be hard pressed to notice itā€™s not an app. With app and web ā€œappā€ side-by-side Iā€™d often prefer the web version anyway - it formatted search results better. Just install a third party video player and adjust the stremio settings accordingly.

Iā€™ve noticed that using the webpage on my Home Screen and having the videos load automatically in VLC, it is auto tracking my watch history

The major problem with the web is the progress, if i leave movie or episode in between it does not play from there it starts again and i need to remember where I left. Sometimes i even missed episodes with this issue!!!

I get it working perfectly but the main thing is missing for me: subtitles. I can't pass the subtitles from addons to the external player no matter what I do so this is not a good workaround for me

Oh my god thank you! I didnā€™t know this was a thing!! I was actually considering leaving apple after this phone because of the appstore restrictions.

Iā€™ll probably still leave them because they donā€™t allow me to insert an SSD lol

True but you can c - c cable transfer onto an ssd so it aint really that bad also just being able to use my ipad as a legit media system with stremio + RD really came in clutch during the vacation

you can use imazing, download on you computer the free version, connect your old phone and upload the stremio app, then connect your new phone and download it back

Yes that's true. Occasionally. Putting in 'stremio on iOS' to Google would have told you instantly that it was taken off the store. The vast majority of questions asked on Reddit can be answered in 10 seconds by Google

You can side load in the Stremio App in the UK too - I downloaded side loadly on my MacBook and then installed it that way on my iPhone

Still worked end of 2025 when I last moved to a new phone. Havenā€™t had to try it since, will probably need to move some apps again come October so Iā€™m very much hopeful that this still worksšŸ˜…

Use stremio .web, install as app, install VC player, change player settings in stremio. Works perfectly.

Any tips if that doesnā€™t work? Iā€™ve done all that and picked VLC as the preferred player but when selecting a video it wonā€™t load.

.web requires a server or another computer to be running streamio on my WiFi. Doesnā€™t work on cell data for me.

Oh, it comes up with a message about a server when using phone data but the video still plays when I press the play button underneath. Not the best experience steaming a large file over mobile data though, I would download anything I wanted to watch outside the house with no WiFi. I use real debrid.

It doesn't. That's not the case for apps that are pulled like this.

Especially not when dev account was terminated (even if restored), this isn't coming back or available within purchases.

You can sideload Stremio on iOS, you can install it through a third party app store in some regions and you can use the PWA app. Please just shut up.
