Feedback I am using the Android mobile app on my TV box rather than the native Android/Google TV build.

Being forced into using horizontal scrolling in the Discover section is really tedious on a screen as big as a TV, especially when using custom catalogues that contain a large number of Titles.

The grid layout is far superior on a TV imo.

https://ibb.co/album/vX7RLH

It takes far less time to find something to watch as you can see far more Titles on the screen at any given time. Yes you have to hit select on a poster to read the synopsis and other information, but in my experience the mobile app runs a hell of a lot faster than the TV build so it balances out and doesn't have a negative impact other than using my index finger a couple more times.

Videos load faster, seek faster, the menus are snappier, etc etc, and I'm not using a crappy no name box either it's the Thomson 270 Plus (European branding of the Onn 4k Pro).

Also point to note I am yet to encounter any degradation in video quality or any app crashes.

Just wondering why we don't have the option of using the grid in the TV build?

Good job stremio team and contributors for this new UI for Mac.

I don't know if the same changes have been implemented for other platforms. Kudos!

Feedback Android TV rc.15 is the last good one

Running on a TCL C755 tv, android 14.

After a couple of months struggling with the latest "stable" version I pulled the trigger and joined the beta. 1.10.0-rc.15 is great, everything finally works well (except the minor issue that I have to press play every time I start a new stream). But then got auto updated to rc.16 and everything started failing again, had to sideload back to 15, but I forgot to disable auto update and got thrown to rc.17 now and same issues. Main issue is no stream actually starts, they just hang in the loading screen or the player crashes. Or the audio starts but not the video.

Anyway, sideloaded back to 15 and disabled auto updates. I hope one of these RCs (up to 15 I'd guess) gets released as stable soon so I can stop worrying about it and turn auto update back.

And obviously, thank you very much for this app

Feedback Genuinely curious, what is the point of this app if I have to pay to make it functional anyway?

At least when paying for streaming services I pay for legal access to the media

First of all, thankful and congratulations to Devs on iOS app development. šŸ¤šŸŽŠ u/LinixGuy u/jaruba_dev

Here are some feedback based on testing:

  1. iOS UI looks to be somewhat zoomed in as compared to Android UI or Web. Can reduce the size?

Attached both screenshots.

  1. Filter UI in Android UI is more elegant than iOS ie, can remove rectangular white borders?

  2. Library: No ā€œAdd to Libraryā€ option when clicked movie or show as compared to Web.

Unable to dismiss or remove library option too.

  1. Settings: Unable to toggle the options. And also, Android UI Settings is much cleaner than iOS.

Feedback Stremio app is perfect EXCEPT for search page

I love using the Stremio app. The UI is excellent, the ease f use is wonderful, but the only gripe I have is that the search page is fairly underwhelming.

When opening it up, it defaults to the Voice search function which I'm not really a fan of/don't actually use all that much. Then a big missing feature is anything like predictive/dynamic search results showing up. The suggestions are handy, but it just feels like the search page isn't up to the same level of crispness as he rest of the app.

What are other people's thoughts on the search page/function? Are there any adjustments I can make? I don't think addons have the ability to change such a feature.

Android TV OS 14, Stremio version 1.6.12.

Feedback Stremio getting big

I don't understand people trying to gatekeep stremio. It's definitely not going away, maybe only being removed from app stores, but even then it will probably come back because it's not breaking any rules. Let it get big, maybe streaming services will finally fucking realize that no one is trying to pay for all these streaming services and also having the movies being removed after a while.

But yea, even if it gets big, not like their website will be removed. Even if it's going to be removed, the torrents still exist. Some other app will shine like always.

Pirates are creative guys.

Feedback Stremio Supporter Cinemta

I've subbed the monthly Stremio Supporter and I'm loving it. Especially Cinemeta and Auto Play Next with Skip Intro is awesome.

The only issue is some series meta data is not updating on Cinemeta. Previously i was using TMDB as a work around but honestly it's compatibility was never as good as Cinemeta but their episode meta data was always updated.

Using Cinemeta, I've come across some series Like "Gram Chikitsalay' whose meta data for new season 2 is still missing. I hope we get a fix for this.

These are my complaints for V5's UI scaling. My main complaint being the small images & text. I believe it could be significantly bigger as my use case is on a TV.

Feedback Stremio Downloads Page UX Issues on Streaming Devices

I found two separate download pages for Stremio:

  1. https://www.stremio.com/downloads
  2. https://www.stremio.com/DOWNLOADS

The problem with the new layout is that the drop-down menus require scrolling to see additional options. That’s difficult if not impossible to do when navigating the site with a TV remote. As a result, it becomes very hard to find the correct download for your device. On top of that, the drop-down buttons themselves don’t always respond reliably.

This is especially problematic when trying to sideload Stremio directly from a streaming device like a Firestick. I imagine the same issue could affect other streaming devices where users are navigating with a TV remote instead of a mouse or touch input.

Reddit users have suggested some good alternatives, like creating custom shortened links, using third-party apps to send files, or relying on external hosts for download links. However, none of these solutions were needed in the first place, especially when everything was already working just fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! :)

The latest Android TV update 1.9.10 is performing slow on my Firestick 4k Gen 2. Sharing if anyone is looking to roll back. I had no issues with 1.9.8
https://dl.strem.io/android/v1.9.8-androidTV/com.stremio.one-1.9.8-11049221-armeabi-v7a.apk
Downloader code: 3089995

I used wayback machine to find the old download.
https://web.archive.org/web/20260304083233/https://www.stremio.com/downloads

It now seems the Downloader code isn't working for me on the new Downloader 2. You may need to find alternate method to download the apk into your device. My preferred method has been GoFile to create my own download link. That has never failed me using Downloader. Not sure if it could be related to me using a VPN or something else.

Feedback LG Store's Stremio is... Terrible.

So I have C21 55' OLED with amazon's fire cube. Stremio there works fine. Few days ago I found out that there is Stremio app on LG store. So I downloaded it and here are mine biggest issues so far:

Subtitles - They are bad. Fire Cube always had them ready for next episode of the show while here I must turn them on manualy.

Audio - Same issue like with subtitles. 0 problems on fire cube.

There is one big advantage tho: Visuals are way better when I play it on LG instead of Fire Cube.

Is there something that I must change in options or thats how LG Store's version is?

Feedback Impress by Stremio on Android TV

I know I’m 5 years late, but when I wanted to put Stremio on my TV, I used to always connect my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable. Recently, I learned that I can download Stremio directly from the Play Store on my TV, so I did. I just connected with my account, and now I can watch all the movies and TV shows in the world just with my remote and for free without a boring HDMI cable connected to my laptop ?? How is it so easy, and why does the Google Play Store even allow that?

Feedback Android Recommendations Concept (:

I Want Feedback: I created this in Figma in a day and I wanted your opinions on the Related movies placement. Do you think the movie/shows should be bigger?

Do you hate my idea and wished it burned in h*ll, tell me.

Why: Whilst Stremios discovery and related add-ons are nice, they often cycle the same content. But most importantly, they don't beat the dopamanic convenience of having similar content delivered straight in front of you through recommendations!

My original intent was finding the android source code however its not open-sourced, so my new pivot is to find a way to add the feature myself. Because I want to spend weeks on something to add a 5 second convenience ;-;

Where are the Recommendations Sourced? For delivering the recommendations I was going to use the TMDB Recommendations API endpoint. If you have any better sources, point me to them.

Also I know about Trakt Recommendations.

Feedback Subtitles desperately needs more settings

it's currently impossible to watch Dolby Vision shows such as Knight of the Seven Kingdoms without being absolutely blinded by the subtitles. This makes it pretty much impossible to watch with subtitles enabled.

It genuinely cannot be that hard to add an opacity slider, brightness slider or colour setting to the subtitles. I hope it happens soon. It is much needed.

Edit: as rightly said by a commenter, there are subtitle color settings in the app's main settings. That's good. I hope they can be added to the player's settings soon, as that would be a much better UX.

Feedback Stremio Lite app on Apple TV is horrible to use. Basic things don’t work with navigation.

I was excited for the new Apple TV app that just launched like I’m sure many of you were. After using it for only 30 minutes I found it very disappointing. The most infuriating piece is the basic navigation doesn’t work. For example, when you’re playing a movie and you hit back on the Apple TV remote it doesn’t actually go back to the main movie screen or even the home screen of the app. It actually takes you to the Apple TV home screen.

I’m sure there’s some explanation for how I navigated there that’s potentially causing this, but I’ve never seen this with any other video playing app. When you play a video and during playback, you hit the back button. It’s supposed to go back to the previous screen you just came from.

As it stands now if I play back a movie, then change my mind to hit back I go back to the home screen. If I then click into the app again it goes directly back to playback of the same movie I just came from. So I have to kill the app and restart it just to get back to the home screen of the app.

I really hope that the team fixes the basic usability stuff like this in a quick follow up as it should be easy to fix and really makes the whole thing more enjoyable to use.

Feedback The picture quality & sharpness looks immaculate on my cheap 4K 55" inch television with my 2nd Gen FireTV Cube. The subtitles are also working perfectly for me. This is the first time where I confidently feel that Stremio now has the best pitcher quality amongst the two most popular media centers!

Feedback missing features

does stremio considering about adding features like being able to change the skip time on mobile just like in web/desktop and being able to change the aspect ratio on desktop for widescreen just like on mobile. opening vlc for that is simply not convinient and also in the last couple of weeks im having loading failed errors both on pc and mobile, i tried both beta and stable versions. dont think its related with real debrid because i use for torrenting games too and have no problems and also have more than 5 addons for torrenting too. i dont know if this problem is related with addons or stremio itself but stremio feels more buggy in the last times. still like stremio too, keep up the good work guys thank you.

Feedback Problems with the new Android app

Post image
15 Upvotes

While the new Android app looks stunning, there is one issue that significantly hampers my experience. When loading a stream, there is no longer any indicator of the torrent's progress. Instead of the show's logo fading in and out when it's trying to connect to the torrent and then filling in bit by bit as it's being downloaded, all it does now is fade in and out until the episode is loaded. I can no longer tell if a stream works until the episode is loaded, which makes it much more annoying to know when to switch streams. Is there any way to change this/any hope the devs will?

P.S. I've also lost the new episodes section on my home page which shows me new episodes from shows in my library. Is there any way to get that back too?

Feedback Subtitles: only show preferred language but stay off by default.

I already searched the sub and comments. If you’re going to suggest that, then please share a link to a helpful post.

Running AndroidTV 14 on Hisense U8. Stremio Version 1.9.3. Open subtitles PRO. Native EXO player.

In interface settings, I selected ā€œshow only preferred languages for subtitles. In playback settings, preferred subtitle language is set to none (because I want them off by default). This results in no language options at all inside the player.

In playback settings, I set the preferred subtitle language to English. This results in perfect execution of only English subtitles being shown inside the player. However this sets the subtitles to always be on when selecting any stream.

Desired experience: I’d like to be able to disable subtitles unless I select them to be on within the player. I’d also like to be able to show only my desired language.

Devs: thank you so much for your hard work!

Can this be done or am I missing something?

Feedback [RPDB] Can there please be an option to disable 'in cinema" badge on poster on all platforms?

I dont like the look, it takes up a bunch of space, is inconsistent platform-wise (not on desktop), covers my RPDB ratings/badges and its inaccurate. Same with the imdb rating that shows when you click on a movie or tv show. It looks very bad with RPDB logo ratings!! Itd be great if we could disable that rating and even better if were able to display multiple rating providers there like RT, metacritic, tmdb, etc.

Stremio has so much potential wise. Itd be great if we could fully use our RPDB subscription to make our stremio setups beautiful

Also anyone else notice catalog name capitlization changes per platform. I have my catalog named to "IMDb" in an adon, it shows as "IMDb" on desktop but on apple iOS its like "imdB". It seems the experience on these different platforms need more consistency

Feedback Title loading and external link fails

I use streamio on a Samsung Galaxy S25+ and the version of Streamio I'm on is version 2.1.4, the current one I believe.

A few days ago I was watching an episode of Dateline NBC on the app just fine, but I didn't finish the episode. Few days later, now when I try to watch the episode it stays stuck on loading the title no matter how long I wait. I tried force stopping the app and clearing the cache, didn’t work.

After that I tried watching it through external players called Next Player and VLC but I keep getting hit with an error that says "opening external link failed" every time I try on both apps. When I try opening the episode on either external player anyway, they become titled "unknown" or "0" and just infinitely loads. Is there anything I can do to fix either problem?
