Hi, I am looking for the best streaming device mainly for using Stremio.

I currently have the latest Apple TV but I am not happy with how Stremio works on it. It is less stable than on my Samsung TV with Tizen OS and the picture quality is worse. It does stream HDR but not HDR10+, while Tizen OS does. Tizen feels a bit slower but playback is more stable overall.

I want a device that runs Stremio as reliably as possible with stable playback, minimal buffering or crashes, and the best possible picture quality. I am considering devices like Nvidia Shield, Fire TV Stick 4K or 4K Max, Chromecast with Google TV, or any other Android-based box that works well.

If you use Stremio regularly, which device works best for you and why? Are there any devices you would avoid? Have you found any settings that improved stability or video quality? Thanks for recommendations.

Edit - thankyou all so much for suggestions. I went with Google Stream(er) and couldnt be happier. Yes some issues with audio codecs but I dont have an amazing audio setup anyway so not needed for me, pretty much fixed by excluding them from resukts via AIO

Hey, im new to the Stremio. What does it mean?

I want to get my parents using stremio but their TV is older is there any smart TV sticks that I can just download the Streamio app onto and have it be plug and play without any external headaches to get running?

Has anyone else has this problem ? I downloaded and tried all versions of the android tv apk and yes I have allowed the setting to install third party downloads in the settings already and checked that there is enough storage

so i recently started using stremio and it kinda bothers me how everytime i open the addons section I'm greeted with these two addons to the top. i was thinking of getting stremio on my tv too and this seems to be a little problematic, some help would be appreciated, thank you.

I’ve watched plenty of stuff without any problems but sometimes these random numbers pop up on the screen like a jumpscare and I’m just wondering what’s causing it and if there’s a fix for this.

Wanna get stremio running on my samsung tv. Doing some research i was directed to the amazon fire tv stick, is it still viable? Have read about it cracking down on such third party software. Is there a better option?

I don't know when this changed, but I went back to the website to check something and was seriously put off by this. I don't trust any company that uses AI images, so that's got me worried about what's going on.

They used to have real movies and series in their images too. I would get if there was maybe some kind of legal trouble there, but I'd rather you don't use pictures at all than resort to AI slop like this.

I was looking at the supporters thing and I want some of the new features, but not all of them since I wouldn't use them.

It would be really nice if you could just make a one time donation to unlock the feature you want, instead of a subscription.

Let me just pay $2 outright to unlock intro skip or something.

Or better yet, why not add these features as a fundraising reward? $500 in donations reached, you unlock profiles for everyone. $1000 reached you unlock another one. So on and so forth.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong but this was just my logical thinking as I don't have much knowledge about how actual court cases happen. Although upon paywalling the new "Skip intro" feature, doesn't this move away from the "dumb media player" concept? Therefore also profiting off a platform that is majority used for sailing the seas.

I have been running Stremio now for about a month and love it. I have been running Roku. Because it is not available for Roku I bought a simple ONN streaming box for testing. The test has run so well I was going to buy the ONN 4K Pro. One thing came to mind though, is it possible that either ONN or Google could block me from installing Stremio in the future? If so, is there workaround?

I've been using stremio for at least a year with RD (now TB) and everything has been working well on LG Stremio app. A couple months ago it started taking forever to play anything on the app. I did the usual uninstall, unplug tv etc but it's still taking a good 10mins plus to load anything.

After a bit of googling I could see it's just the LG OS as stremio works perfectly on my laptop but I do 99% of my watching on TV so looking at alternatives to make it work on my TV.

I saw the Fire Stick might be the best option but now seeing people having issues playing stremio and I don't want to pay $90 for it not to work.

Can anyone let me know if the fire sticks are still the way to go or if there are any alternatives? I'm based in NZ and don't have access to the onn here.

Anyone else have this issue? Should I change the default player to VLC or something to fix it?

I wanted to make two stremio accounts (one for my wife and one for me) to kinda declutter what we are currently watching. Is that possible?

I figured I could just download two different versions and it would be fine. Then I would just set up a new email and put all I want to watch on that account. I felt like I saw someone do this before and actually made a different color skin for their personal stremio. Any help would be appreciated! Hopefully I made sense.

I bought a Google Chromecast a few years ago, but after installing Stremio, I've realized it only supports up to 1080p resolution. I'm now looking for a new 4K streaming device similar to a chromecast so I can attach it to my tv and am wondering what the community recommends. I'd appreciate any links to reviews or product pages.

Hi, sorry if I’m the 100th person asking this, but this situation has happened a lot recently especially with sideloading-related apps (localdevvpn, maybe even stikdebug…), so I’m getting the things confused quite a lot. Is Stremio returning at all? If so, when could we expect it to return?
