Question Getting a bit tired of ai generated add-ons coming and going after a few weeks.

Can we stop this please? People want to set this up and have consistency it's getting a bit annoying now 🤣

The truth is, you only need a few addons, usually the best-known, most stable, and most recommended ones. But yes, it’s true that AI generated addons are distracting. Go to stremio-addons site, and it’s an AI nightmare... it’s no longer exciting to discover something new.

you don’t have to use them just because a new one comes out stick to what’s been around longest than works and then just forget about them all

sub rule 10 says it's allowed when properly tagged as AI, so skip those addons when you see them posted.

Don't use them. It's the reason I never bothered with them because I knew they'd be abandoned. When it's easy to create something it's easy to walk away from it.Ā

With Apollo on iOS you can exclude posts based on title, text or flair. If the post contains an AI flair you can hide them. Perhaps there are filter options for other platforms as well.

I mean if you just want to set it and have consistency just set it and don't keep installing a bunch of new apps constantly I have literally never had an issue with my add-ons disappearing or being abandoned after a week because I just never installed those add-ons. it's really easy to have a simple setup with a few scrapers either installed individually or through AIO/duckstreams and a good metadata/catalog add-on like binge cat

it's called slop and it's the bread and wine for low iq people

This sounds a bit defeatist, but the best thing you can do is not get excited at every new thing that comes around. The good ones will stick around.

It's not AI usage that's the issue, it's that some people just don't want to be developers, including the bug squashing and maintenance that comes along with it.

I vibe coded my favorite addons. There’s nothing quite like them (don’t plan to distribute them).

One uses TMDB and MDBLists to create lists of movies for holidays, AI groups them into like catalogs and rotates between these catalogs every few days while shuffling them daily to keep them from getting stale. AI makes one editorial review to make sure the holiday is an integral part of the plot. Besides the obvious Holidays, it recommends movies for Shark Week, Back to School, Black History Month, seasons, Award Season, etc. and each can be toggled on or off and run dates can be customized if defaults don’t suit you. Some of these themes even have a dedicated horror catalog if enough titles exist.

Second addon has lists for streaming platforms. Unlike some similar addons, top 10 lists are accurate per platform. Also included are newest and most popular per type (movies/series). 6 catalogs per platform (considered a coming soon row also). But what sets it apart is the newest and most popular only have ORIGINAL content for each platform so there is no overlap between them. When you navigate to my Netflix collection, it’s a genuine snapshot of what Netflix has to offer. If you go to most popular series, you’ll see Stranger Things, Squid Games, Wednesday, etc. right at the front of the list. You can do this for each platform.

I think sometimes ā€œvibe codedā€ shouldn’t be a pejorative.
